HTC U12 Plus Update Brings New Camera Features & More

It seems like HTC just started pushing out a new update to the HTC U12 Plus in the US. That very same update hit Taiwan last month, and it will move your phone’s software to version 1.21.6173. This is not just an iterative update, though, as it includes some new features. Having said that, this update weighs 437.1MB, in case you were wondering, and it’s currently rolling out to US HTC U12 Plus models over-the-air.

As part of this update, HTC added new camera features to the U12 Plus, including an auto zoom feature for video recording, and 4K 30fps video recording without time limit. On top of that, this update will also enhance pressure-sensitive buttons, battery life, and system performance, according to the company’s official changelog, which you can see in an image provided down below. June security patch also comes as part of this update, in case you were wondering. If your update notifications are switched on, chances are this update will become available to you soon, if it hasn’t already, and you can also check for its availability manually by heading to Settings -> System -> About Phone -> Software Updates -> Check Now. This is not a huge update by any means, but camera improvements and new features are always welcomed.

The HTC U12 Plus was introduced back in May this year, and it has been available since June. The device is made out of metal and glass, it sports rather thin bezels, and a dual camera setup on the back. The HTC U12 Plus does not sport regular physical keys, it has pressure-sensitive buttons instead, and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC. The phone also comes with a 6-inch QHD+ display, 12 and 16-megapixel rear-facing cameras, and a 3,500mAh battery which is not removable.
