Kingston’s gaming division, HyperX has just announced its first line of gaming-focused micro SD cards. There are three capacities available – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. These cards boast read and write speeds of 100MB/s and 80MB/s respectively. These speeds meet and exceed the requirements for micro SD cards on the Nintendo Switch. Which makes these great micro SD cards to use on the Nintendo Switch, but also on your Android smartphone, as it is still fast enough to record 4K video footage.
HyperX says that its new line of micro SD cards are able to “meet the needs of on-the-go gamers who download games and downloadable content (DLC) and don’t want to carry multiple cards or wait for long load times.” While other micro SD cards are available, this line is specifically targeting gamers and storing game files, which need to be faster than a normal micro SD card that is storing photos, videos and music. The HyperX Gaming micro SD Cards were designed to meet UHS-1, CL10, Speed Class (U3) and A1 performance requirements. A1 means that it is able to store apps and games and load them on your smartphone as fast the internal storage on your smartphone.
These new micro SD cards from HyperX are available beginning today. They start at $49.99 for the 64GB model, and goes all the way up to $199 for the 256GB model. These are going to be available from Amazon in both the US and Canada. So far, there is no word on whether or not these micro SD cards will be available in other markets – or when. These are another great option for those that need some more storage on their smartphone, or their Nintendo Switch, but don’t want a slower micro SD card that is going to slow down the performance of their device.
