Jaybird X4 Wireless Sport Headphones Launch At $129

Jaybird has now announced its latest pair of X-branded headphones, the X4 Wireless Sport Headphones. These follow on from the popular Jaybird X3 model by continuing to cater to those in the market for a sports-focused wireless audio solution, at an affordable price.

When the Jaybird X3 headphones first launched, they were positioned as a sweat-proof solution making them ideal for those who often frequent the gym, and this is where one of the most notable improvements can be seen with the new pair, as Jaybird has upped the protection on the X4 to a waterproof level. Thanks to the IPX7 certification, the Jaybird X4 headphones  are now not only splash-proof but can also survive submersion in water for up to thirty minutes, and to a depth of one meter. In spite of this improved protection, however, the language used by Jaybird suggests the waterproof rating is more there to protect the headphones from “accidental submersion,” rather than purposely-designed for underwater usage. Padding out the design, is a more rugged build quality for added protection in general, as well as increased levels of comfort when worn due to the inclusion of the company’s Comply Ultra foam tips. In terms of the battery life, buyers should expect about the same level offered with the X3, due to the Jaybird X4 listed as offering up to eight hours of usage off the back of a single charge.

With these headphones being a new addition to the company’s X-series, buyers should also expect the same heightened sound quality on offer with the previous models, with the option to further customize the sound through the company’s corresponding Android app. In terms of availability, Jaybird has confirmed the new X4 headphones are available to pre-order starting today from the company’s website and at a cost of $129.99 in the US. The price is particularly worth noting, as while these are headphones boasting clear improvements compared to their predecessor, the X4 headphones have launched at the exact same price the X3 headphones originally launched for. Jaybird has yet to confirm the exact length of the pre-order period and instead stated the new X4 headphones will become available from a number of retailers (in store and online) in September. Those looking for an added level of customization do have the option of buying the X4 headphones in one of three color combinations: Black Metallic/Flash, Alpha Metallic/Jade, and Storm Metallic/Glacier.
