Meizu had been crowdfunding a rather interesting speaker a while back, and that gadget has just been officially announced by the company. We’ve first talked about the Meizu Gravity speaker back in May 2016, when it was nothing more than a concept, and the company referred to it as its ‘floating’ wireless speaker back then. Well, that speaker is now a reality, and Meizu actually partnered with Dirac Research in order to up the Meizu Gravity’s audio game.
The Meizu Gravity comes with the Dirac Power Sound speaker optimization solution, which makes Meizu one of many companies that Dirac partnered up over the years. Dirac Power Sound is actually a digital technology which optimizes the sound experience from small loudspeakers which are usually plagued with audio performance deficiencies. Dirac claims that its solution boosts Meizu Gravity’s audio output, it makes it clearer, more natural-sounding, with reacher details, and a more powerful bass. The Meizu Gravity comes with a unique transparent prism display, and thanks to it, it actually looks like the text is hovering above the speaker, from certain angles, at least. The Meizu Gravity speaker has been designed by Kosho Tsuboi, and it’s inspired by Buddhist and Zen principles, says the company.
The Meizu Gravity comes with Texas Instruments TAS5754M audio chipset on the inside which is in charge of audio processing, while the speaker also includes two 40mm speakers, and each of them has a power output of 10W. The Meizu Gravity speaker is equipped with Bluetooth 4.1, while you can connect it to the Internet using Meizu’s Gravity app as well, which is available for Android as we speak. The Meizu Gravity is equipped with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, while an AUX port is a part of the package as well. This speaker is currently available for pre-order at Tmall in China for 999 Yuan ($146), while its price tag will jump to 1,099 Yuan ($161) after August 10. It remains to be seen if Meizu will release this speaker in markets outside of this homeland, as the company did not comment on it just yet.
