Multiple variants of the Nokia X5 have been recently approved by Bluetooth, indicating that HMD Global might bring the device to other markets outside of China soon. Specifically, the Nokia X5 bearing the model number TA-1109 was listed by Bluetooth earlier today, while five additional variants labeled as “Nokia Mobile Phone” and identified by model numbers TA-1102, TA-1112, TA-1120, TA-1105, and TA-1108 seem to have completed the Bluetooth Qualification Process on July 31, with all six model numbers being attached to the same declaration ID.
The certificate reveals a couple of hardware characteristics like the inclusion of a MediaTek chipset along with 4G and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, and as expected, these specifications mirror the spec sheet pertaining to the ongoing Nokia X5 in China. Nevertheless, while the internal hardware will likely remain unchanged across all variants, the handset is expected to launch globally under a different moniker, namely the Nokia 5.1 Plus, on account that its sibling, i.e., the Nokia X6 was previously confirmed to hit the global market as the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The X5 debuted in China last month as a mid-range model equipped with a 5.86-inch display bearing a resolution of 1520 by 720, and like the Nokia X6 before, it also features a display notch accommodating a loudspeaker and front-facing camera, as well as a dual main camera on the back panel, coupled with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The screen has fairly thin bezels and rounded corners, and in China, at least, the device was launched in three different colors including Black, White, and Blue. Furthermore, customers in China can pick between two different hardware configurations including 3GB or 4GB of RAM, with the latter model costing an additional $50. Likewise, the variant with 3GB of RAM features 32GB of on-board memory while the second option doubles the storage to 64GB.
Although the OEM has yet to discuss global availability and pricing details, it’s worth reminding that the Nokia X5 launched in China for the entry price of 999 Yuan ($148), while the beefier variant with 4GB of RAM launched for 1,399 Yuan ($208). It’s likely that prices won’t be identical across the globe but nevertheless the device should remain in a similar price range regardless of region.
