Samsung on Tuesday launched yet another promo for its Thursday “Unpacked” event in New York City that’s widely expected to see the announcement of the Galaxy Note 9, once again indicating that the upcoming Android flagship will be designed to cater to gamers, in part due to long battery life. The short video clip that can be seen below appears to be part of the company’s message that the Galaxy Note 9 will make smartphone batteries dying during gaming sessions a thing of the past. Recent reports suggest the device will be equipped with a 4,000mAh cell, a significant upgrade over the 3,300mAh unit found inside its predecessor, though its Fast Adaptive Charging likely won’t be any more efficient than the technology Samsung has been using since the Galaxy S7 lineup released in early 2016.
The company’s mobile chief DJ Koh already hinted at the possibility of the Galaxy Note 9 catering to gamers earlier this summer, having mentioned the existence of a number of S Pen features that will be specifically designed for gaming, albeit without elaborating on the matter. Earlier this month, AndroidHeadlines had learned that on top of the widely reported 30-day Galaxy Note 9 exclusivity period Epic Games is planning to attach to the Android port of Fortnite, the hit battle royale game is likely to go through a subsequent period of exclusivity running for up to three additional months that will see its availability limited to a small number of other Samsung-made handsets, most likely recent flagships such as the Galaxy S9 series and Galaxy Note 8.
Samsung‘s Game Launcher app might also end up being improved if the company truly opted to make the Galaxy Note 9 more appealing to gamers, whereas Fortnite itself may be launched through the Galaxy Apps store even though Epic already confirmed it will be circumventing Google Play after failing to justify paying a 30-percent cut of all microtransaction revenues to Google. Following its August 9 announcement, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be available for pre-orders for approximately two weeks and be released globally on August 24.
