The Nokia 7 Plus, one of seven devices involved in the third-party Android beta program, will receive a stable Android 9 Pie build in September. This information comes straight from HMD Global, the company’s Chief Product Officer (CPO), Juho Sarvikas, announced it during the company’s press conference in New Delhi earlier today. For those of you who do not know, the Android 9 Pie Beta 4 build was released to the Nokia 7 Plus earlier this month.
The Nokia 7 Plus will become the first Snapdragon 660-powered smartphone to receive Android 9 Pie, it seems, and the company’s CPO also said that the rest of HMD’s portfolio of Nokia devices will receive Android 9 Pie in the coming months. The Nokia 8 and 8 Sirocco will probably follow the Nokia 7 Plus soon, and for those of you who do not know, the company had confirmed recently that all of its Nokia-branded phones will get Android 9 Pie update. By announcing that, the company kept its word when it comes to updates, a word that it gave out quite some time ago. Not all of HMD’s Nokia devices are a part of Google’s Android One program, but the newer ones are, and that definitely helps HMD push updates faster to those phones.
The Nokia 7 Plus was introduced back in February this year, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The Nokia 7 Plus is the company’s mid-range smartphone, but quite a powerful one. The Nokia 7 Plus sports rather thin bezels, and a dual camera setup on the back, while a 6-inch fullHD+ display is also a part of the package. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while you will find 12 and 13-megapixel cameras on the back of the device. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Nokia 7 Plus, while the device sports a 3,800mAh battery.
