RCA has just announced a new Security Floodlight Camera, which is going to work with RCA’s existing Home Security lineup that it is already sells – which includes some indoor cameras, doorbells and such. This floodlight camera is able to stream in full HD quality, and also offers up free recording. So while many other security camera companies are looking for ways to monetize the user after selling the hardware with paid cloud storage for recording, RCA is not doing that at all.
According to RCA, the Security Floodlight Camera will offer some crystal-clear video, at 1080p resolution. RCA has also given this floodlight camera an ultra-wide field of view, coming in at 140-degrees. That is very similar to some of the other floodlights out there, and it will allow you to cover your entire driveway or even your entire front-yard and see what’s going on, at all times. This system from RCA does also include a motion and remote activated siren alarm. So you can scare off whoever is trying to get into your home. It features ultra-bright LED lights, and offer up to 60-feet of night vision, which is actually further than some other outdoor cameras. For storage, the RCA Security Floodlight Camera is going to use a micro SD card. RCA bundles the floodlight camera with a 16GB micro SD card. But you can put in your own micro SD card, which RCA says supports up to 128GB. But it should support all the way up to 400GB – which is currently the largest capacity micro SD card available.
The RCA Security Floodlight Camera is on sale now from Amazon, it’s going to cost you $179.99. This is actually a pretty competitive price for a floodlight with a 1080p camera built-in. It’s fairly similar, both spec-wise and price-wise, to Ring’s Floodlight camera. And if you already have some of RCA’s other security products, this will fit into that ecosystem quite nicely.
