Samsung Gear S3, Gear Sport Perma-Discounted By Up To $50

Samsung permanently discounted the 2016 Gear S3 lineup and the 2017 Gear Sport wearable earlier today, having dropped the prices of its smartwatches by up to $50. The move comes mere days after the South Korean tech giant announced its latest intelligent timepiece in the form of the Galaxy Watch and is a continuation of Samsung’s pricing strategy that traditionally sees its consumer electronics discounted shortly before newer models become available for purchase.

The Gear S3 line is hence now starting at $299.99 as opposed to $349.99, whereas the Gear Sport can be purchased for as little as $279.99 directly from Samsung.com, thus being $20 cheaper than it previously was. While the company’s older wearables are likely to be made even more affordable in the near future, these are expected to be their lowest price points until this year’s holiday season. With Samsung also offering some Gear S3 models along with Galaxy Note 9 pre-orders in select markets, the company is now apparently moving to clear any remaining stock it has and will presumably stop producing the 2016 smartwatches in the near future, provided it hasn’t already. The gadgets themselves are still being regularly updated, with their latest patch debuting less than a month ago.

While the newly discounted product families don’t represent the pinnacle of Samsung’s wearable advancements any longer, they’re still a widely touted as some of the best such products on the market, especially as the Galaxy Watch itself is more of an iterative upgrade than a true attempt to revolutionize the smartwatch formula. Due to that state of affairs, the vast majority of fitness tracking features and other functionalities offered by the company’s latest wrist-worn gadget is also supported by the last two generations of its products, making them an attractive proposition for anyone that’s seeking an entry point into wearables but would still prefer to maximize the value they’re getting for their money. The newly introduced discounts still aren’t live in all parts of the world but American customers can take advantage of them by referring to the banner below.
