Sennheiser Announce MOMENTUM True Wireless Headphones & AMBEO Soundbar – IFA 2018

Sennheiser took to Berlin to announce two new audio products at IFA 2018. It announced a pair of truly wireless headphones, and then a new soundbar. The MOMENTUM True Wireless headphones are going to cost $299, and come with four hours of continuous playback, with the carrying case you’ll get an additional 12 hours of playback. These will be available from all of the usual Sennheiser retailers beginning in mid-November.

The company touts that this is the first model in a new generation of MOMENTUM, which is an iconic headphone family from Sennheiser. These have 7mm dynamic drivers inside each earbud, which may sound small, but they do a pretty good job at keeping the audio up to Sennheiser’s standards – which isn’t easy. These also support AAC codec, aptXTM and aptXTM Low Latency, in addition to Bluetooth support. What this means is that you’re going to get some crisp and clear audio streaming over Bluetooth from these earbuds. Finally Sennheiser is supporting Siri and Google Assistant on these earbuds. They are not built into the earbuds, but they are being used from the phone that is connected. So if you are using an Android phone, you’ll be able to use Google Assistant from these earbuds.

Sennheiser also announced the AMBEO Soundbar at IFA today. This is a soundbar that offers some incredible sound, with immersive 5.1.4 sound and deep bass. Sennheiser says that words won’t do this soundbar justice, as the bass is that good, you’ll need to hear it to really believe it. What’s even more unbelievable is that all of this is done with a single unit. There’s no wireless subwoofer here adding in more bass to the sound from this soundbar. There are 13 drivers in this soundbar, and it also uses virtualization technology that it developed with Fraunhofer, which allows the AMBEO soundbar to offer HiFi sound quality. Sennheiser does not have a price for the AMBEO Soundbar just yet, but it is expected to be released in early 2019.
