Skullcandy today announced the launch of a new pair of headphones, the Skullcandy Venue. These headphones are available to pre-order now at a cost of $179.99 in the US and are expected to go on general sale starting from September 17.
The Skullcandy Venue headphones come with two specific selling points. The first of which is noise cancellation. With the company starting Venue’s inclusion of active noise canceling (ANC) technology will result in an affordable way for consumers to take advantage of the ability to channel the listening experience to the actual music byd blocking out additional environmental noise. While also maintaining the ability to let environmental sound pass through as and when needed by utilizing the Venue’s “Monitor Mode.” Likewise, these headphones do also come with the ability to launch an on-device voice assistant with the touch of a button. The second main selling point is the result of a partnership with Tile – the popular tracking service which typically offers small products that can be attached to things and then tracked via the company’s Android app. The difference with this pair of headphones is no additional products are needed as the Tile technology is included in the headphones. Therefore, buyers of the Venue headphones will also be able to make sure of the Tile Android app to track the Venue headphones when lost or misplaced.
As for battery life, Skullcandy states the Venue headphones are capable of offering up to twenty four hours of usage on a single charge. While this is likely to be impacted to some degree by the use of ANC, the greater number of hours in general suggest even with ANC-enabled these headphones will remain operational for a decent length of time. In those instances when only a quick boost of battery is needed, the headphones are reportedly capable of receiving enough charge to last for an additional five hours on the back of a quick ten minute charge. In terms of the more generic points, the drivers measure in at 40 mm, the SPL at 97.3 dB, and the frequency response is listed as 20 Hz – 20 KHz. While those craving additional customization can opt to pre-order the new Skullcandy Venue headphones in two different color combinations: Black/Black and White/Crimson.
