Android 9 Pie was released at the beginning of last week, and it brings a number of interesting features, including a rather useful new rotation suggestion feature, and that feature is also available to devices which are not running Android 9 Pie, via a third-party application. Android P Rotation is an app that is free in the Google Play Store, and chances are that some of you have already heard of it, as it has been available for a bit of time now.
So, for those of you who do not know, how this feature works on Android 9 Pie is, when you rotate the display, an icon will pop up in on the side (bottom of the display), asking you whether you’d like to rotate or not. So, for example, if your rotation is locked to portrait, and you flip the phone to landscape, an icon will pop up, letting you turn portrait rotation off by tapping on it, and switching to landscape orientation at the same time, of course. Well, this app actually functions in a similar manner, after you install it, and enable it, you will get a pop-up shortcut to rotate your display, in case you’re annoyed by constant rotations that you did not want. Do keep in mind that you will have to lock rotation on your phone in order for this to work, after which the app will take over.
In the settings of this app, you will find some customization options. For example, you will be able to make that icon pop up any place you want, top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right corners, or the center of the display, whichever you prefer. This app also lets you set time before the icon disappears as well, it can stay on for up to 6 seconds if that’s what you want, while the opacity of that icon can also be set. There are some additional options included that you can play around with. This app is free to download and use, but if you’d like to give a small contribution to the developer, you can get some additional features, like app-specific orientation settings, for example.
