Xiaomi Mi 8 With 8GB Of RAM & 128GB Of Storage Is Official

Xiaomi has just announced an 8GB RAM variant of its Mi 8 flagship. That being said, some of you may be a bit confused by the news, and say that the Mi 8 was already available in an 8GB RAM variant. That is partially true, as the ‘Mi 8 Explorer Edition’ was announced with 8GB of RAM, a version of the device that comes with a see-through back, the regular Mi 8 was introduced with 6GB of RAM, not 8GB. That has just changed, as the Mi 8 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is now official as well, and it’s listed on the company’s official website in China. It remains to be seen if this version will become available outside of the company’s homeland, Xiaomi did not share any info regarding that just yet.

The original Xiaomi Mi 8 was introduced with 6GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, while this new variant does come with 8GB of RAM, but in only one storage option, 128GB storage flavor. Other than that, this model is completely identical to the regular Mi 8. This new variant of the Mi 8 is priced at 3,299 Yuan ($479) in China, which is the same price tag as for the 6GB RAM variant of the phone which comes with 256GB of storage, so you can basically choose to get more RAM, or more storage in this case, for the same price. The 8GB RAM variant of the Xiaomi Mi 8 comes in Black and Blue color variants, and other than being available on Mi.com, it’s also listed on JD.com (JingDong Mall).

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is the company’s flagship which is made out of metal and glass, and which sports a rather wide display notch. The phone’s bezels are quite thin otherwise, and there are two cameras included on the back of this smartphone. A fingerprint scanner sits on the back of the Mi 8 as well, while the device is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor. The Mi 8 features a 6.21-inch fullHD+ (2248 x 1080) AMOLED display, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on it with the company’s MIUI skin. Two 12-megapixel cameras are included on the back of this phone, while a single 20-megapixel camera sits on the front side of the Mi 8. If you’d like to know more about the phone, click here.
