In Short: Xiaomi’s second-gen gaming smartphone has just surfaced on TENAA it seems. According to the source, the device that is pictured above this article is the company’s upcoming smartphone which surfaced on TENAA as well, and it comes with the ‘AWM-A0’ model number. As you can see, there are some changes when it comes to the looks of the device, as expected. The phone surfaced on TENAA a couple of days ago, on September 19, and this listing does not exactly share any specs of the device or anything of the sort, only its image is available, along with the confirmation that it will sport two SIM cards, ship with Android, and support 4G LTE connectivity.
Background: Xiaomi had introduced the Black Shark gaming smartphone back in April via one of its company’s, and that phone was clearly made for gaming. The whole marketing push regarding the Black Shark was gaming focused, while the device itself packed in top of the line specs, especially in the SoC and RAM departments. The device came with a large fullHD display, up to 8GB of RAM, and was fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is still one of the most powerful mobile processors out there, and the best Qualcomm has to offer. The Black Shark 2 will probably ship with that very same processor, and it will probably include up to 8GB of RAM as well. Xiaomi may opt to increase its display even more, but who knows.
Impact: If the leaked image is accurate, the Black Shark will look more refined than its predecessor, which was to be expected. Unlike the first-gen model, this phone will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The phone will include two cameras on the back, while the design of its back side will once again be different compared to the competition. The power / lock and volume up and down buttons will be located on the right-hand side of this phone, while a separate physical key (probably the company’s ‘SHARK’ key for booster performance) will be included on the left. It is still unclear when may this device become official, but chances are it will launch in the coming months.
