In Short: New info has just surfaced, claiming that four Galaxy S10 models are in the works. This info comes from the Galaxy S9 Plus’ Android Pie update, mentions of beyond0, beyond1, beyond2, and beyond 2 5G smartphones were found in the code of that update. The first three codenames surfaced earlier, but the latter one did not, it’s completely new. This codename obvious refers to a 5G-ready smartphone, and if all the info that surfaced thus far is accurate, all of those ‘beyond’ phones are actually Galaxy S10 units.
Background: The Samsung Galaxy S10-related info has been surfacing for quite some time now. The latest rumor that popped up actually claims that the phone will ship with a 19:9 display aspect ratio, while its predecessor and a ton of other Samsung-branded phones thus far sport 18.5:9 display aspect ratios. On top of that, that rumor also suggested that the phone will present a design change for the company, in other words, it should look somewhat different compared to the Galaxy S8 and S9. The company’s CEO also teased a “significant change” for the Galaxy S10, which also suggests we’re in for a major design change. Three rear-facing cameras were also teased for the phone in one of the recent rumors, while such rumors also suggest that the phone will be available in a Green color variant as well.
Impact: These codenames that were found in the Galaxy S9 Plus’ Android Pie update do suggest that a 5G-ready Galaxy S10 is on its way, but that’s not all that was revealed. For those of you who do not know, numbers after the word “beyond” actually suggest how large a phone is. So, for example, “beyond0” stands for the smallest Galaxy S10 model, while the “beyond2” will be the largest, that also means that the 5G-ready variant of the Galaxy S10 will be large. Now, if a codename contains a letter “q”, that means that we’re looking at a Qualcomm model, if not, it’s an Exynos model, like the ones that surfaced. The Galaxy S10 is not expected to arrive until Q1 next year, it will probably launch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, but we’re only guessing, for now.
