In Short: A new Google application has surfaced on the Play Store, and it’s called ‘Hire’. This is a brand new app, and it’s not stable just yet, it has the ‘Unreleased’ tag attached to it, which basically means it’s in beta at the moment. Now, the whole goal of this app is to help small and medium companies to distribute jobs, identify and attract candidates, and so on. If you’d like to try out this application, you will need to head over to hire.google.com first, and his the “Request Demo” button at the top of that website in order to be eligible to use the app.
Background: This app comes as a bit of a surprise, and we’re still not sure when will its stable version become available. As you can see, the app utilizes Google’s Material Design, and should be fairly easy to use. This app integrates with other Google services, such as Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and even Hangouts. On top of everything, G Suite integration is also available, to make the whole hiring process as painless as possible. This is one of many Google-made apps that are available in the Play Store, but it’s the very first one of its kind, the very first that has a specific purpose of recruiting employees. Google does have some experience with apps that connect employees and employers, though, but this app is completely different than anything else the company released thus far.
Impact: This application is not exactly for everyone, but if you do own a company, this could be a good solution for you, at least in the long term. You can power through interviewing candidates for specific jobs, and see all the necessary info in one place, before you meet them in person, if that’s what you’re aiming to do, as there are a ton of online-only companies out there these days, and some employers don’t even see their employees in real-life, ever. If you’re interested in trying out hire, you can download the app from the link provided down below, just don’t forget to sign up on the provided website beforehand.
