SwiftKey Beta app has received a new update, and as part of it, the app has basically received integration with Microsoft’s Translator service. This essentially brings Microsoft’s translation service on SwiftKey Beta’s toolbar, which basically lets you translate a number of languages by tapping that icon. When you tap that icon, you will be able to select both source and target languages, and after you do, the app will simply translate the content for you.
In addition to Microsoft Translator, this update has also brought a new language to SwiftKey Beta, Dungan, while the Tamil99 native top row symbols layout has also been added to the app. And last, but not least, Indic native top row symbols layout has also been added. Access to Microsoft Translator is the most notable change this time around, by far, though keep in mind this feature is still in beta, so you may stumble upon some bugs and what not. Considering that the feature is available in SwiftKey Beta, it’s safe to say that it will roll out to an official, stable SwiftKey app in the near future, though Microsoft did not say when that may happen. If everything ends up functioning as it should, and the company doesn’t stumble upon any serious bugs along the way, this feature may become available in the stable app in only a couple of weeks.
SwiftKey has been available for Android for a long time, while Microsoft purchased SwiftKey (the company) a while back, so it’s not exactly odd that the company has started to add its own features to the application. SwiftKey is still one of the most popular applications in the Google Play Store, though. This app offers you quite a bit of customization, and in addition to being able to type normally, you can also use ‘SwiftKey Flow’ to type, which basically means you can swipe-to-type, as you can on Gboard, for example.
