OnePlus Switch Can Now Migrate Your Launcher, Wallpapers & More

In Short:OnePlus has added some new features to its ‘OnePlus Switch’ application via the v2.1 update that is currently rolling out. The application now supports migrating launchers, wallpapers, and even desktop layout, at least according to the official changelog. That changelog also states that the app now supports manual connection to mobile hotspots, supports backing up application data, and is compatible with even more Android smartphones. OnePlus Switch had rather limited availability at first, but you can now use it with a wide range of phones, even though OnePlus did not share the full list.

Background: OnePlus Switch arrived at the beginning of this year, and at first, it had a really limited capability, but OnePlus improved it greatly since it was released. This app offers you probably the easier way to migrate to a new smartphone, at least as far as regular apps from the Play Store are concerned. There are not many ways to migrate your applications and your data to a new device, at least not reliable ones, and ones that do not require root access, so OnePlus Switch can be quite useful. It is also worth noting that OnePlus Switch is a free application that is available via the Google Play Store.

Impact: OnePlus Swich did have its issues in the past, but in our testing, the app worked just fine, even though one of the two devices in our testing was OnePlus’ current flagship, while the other one was one of Xiaomi’s offerings. In any case, the app still has plenty of negative reviews in the Play Store, so your experience may differ. If you are, however, looking for an easy way to migrate your data, apps, and what not from one device to the other, OnePlus Switch may be worth a shot, as long as you read the full description and follow the app’s guidelines.
