OnePlus Users Express Disappointment Over Audio Jack Removal

In Short:OnePlus has decided to ask its users, via Twitter, what is their favorite OnePlus 6 feature, and the whole situation got out of control. The company basically got mocked in the comments, as the vast majority of users wrote: “headphone jack”, “audio jack” or “3.5mm headphone jack”… all of which have the same meaning, of course. In light of OnePlus’ confirmation that the OnePlus 6T will not sport a headphone jack, users are clearly trying to express what they’re feeling at the moment, as they’re not happy with OnePlus’ decision.

Background: OnePlus had recently confirmed that a 3.5mm headphone jack will not be a part of the OnePlus 6T, claiming that now is the perfect time to remove it, as most users already turned to wireless headphones. The company had also introduced Type-C wired earbuds as well, at the same time, which are clearly being released for the OnePlus 6T, even though they can be used with pretty much any smartphone out there that has a Type-C USB port. OnePlus stood proud earlier this year when the OnePlus 6 got announced, as the company talked quite a bit about the headphone jack, and the fact that it is still around, so not many people expected it to be gone with the OnePlus 6T, but OnePlus managed to surprise yet again.

Impact: Users were quite displeased with OnePlus after the company announced that the OnePlus 6 will sport a display notch, and they’re obviously not happy with the removal of the headphone jack as well. This move probably won’t hurt OnePlus’ sales, though, some users may avoid getting the OnePlus 6T either because they have the OnePlus 6 already, or because the headphone jack is gone… or both at the same time, actually, but the fact that OnePlus decided to remove it probably won’t hurt the company in general. OnePlus is seemingly planning to sell the OnePlus 6T via T-Mobile in the US, which will probably boost its sales, not to mention that the OnePlus 6T will probably ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a much smaller display notch, which will surely attract users.
