Overdrop App Packs In A Lot Of Weather Widgets & Flat Design

In Short: Overdrop is a new weather application that surfaced on the Google Play Store, and its full name listed on the Play Store is “Overdrop – Animated Weather & Widgets”. This application is currently listed as ‘Unreleased’ on the Play Store, which essentially means that it’s still in beta. This app offers a flat design, and it comes with quite a few (animated) home screen widgets as well. This app can also send out weather notifications with an hourly forecast, and Dark Sky is its weather provider. Like many other weather apps out there, Overdrop offers 24h weather forecast, 7 days a week, and this app is also notch-optimized. On top of offering weather widgets, the developer also packed in the clock, date, and battery widgets here.

Background: Overdrop comes from “39ninety”, a developer one of the “Scientific Calculator” applications. Those are the only two applications that 39ninety released thus far, and the Scientific Calculator is actually stable, it’s not in beta, in case you’d like to check it out. That being said, there is also the Overdrop Pro app listed on the Play Store, and it’s also unreleased. That app is basically the same as the regular Overdrop app, but it comes without ads, while it also packs in a Dark AMOLED theme with new illustrations. Overdrop Pro will set you back around $2 if you decide to buy it.

Impact: There are a ton of weather apps available out there, but not many of them offer proper flat design, and pack in such widgets options as Overdrop. The developer promised that new features and widgets are on the way, reminding users that Overdrop is currently in beta. Some of you have probably heard that the Weather Timeline app is no longer available on the Play Store, at least not for new users, and that app was rather unique, and well-received by the community. Well, Overdrop is not exactly the same as Weather Timeline, but if you’re looking for a similar design language, this app may be just right for you.
