Microsoft’s Skype team has announced that it has started rolling out call recording across its Android, iOS and desktop apps. This feature has been in testing for a while now, and it seems like it is finally ready for primetime. This new feature basically lets you record any call, as its activation is only a tap away. Microsoft says that Skype’s call recording feature is completely cloud-based, in case you were wondering. Do keep in mind that this feature will be a bit later for Windows 10, it’s expected to arrive in a couple of weeks.
Now, once you enter a call, you can press a “+” sign on either desktop or mobile, and then select “Start recording”, which will kick off call recording for you. Once you do that, you will notice a banner at the top of the display, and the person you’re talking to will be notified that the call is being recorded. You will get a copy of the record as soon as you end a call, as it will be posted to your chat, and it will remain accessible from there for the next 30 days. You can download it as well, if you want to, just remember to do it within that 30-day window, or it will be gone for good. This seems to be the only new addition to the app this time around, though the company did remove the “Highlights” feature from the app recently, and simplified the UI of the app at the same time. Skype is still one of the most popular video-chatting services out there, though it has plenty of competition these days, mainly from Viber, WhatsApp, Messenger, Hangouts, and Duo.
