Todoist Gets Dark Theme, Data Parsing Improvements & More

In Short: Todoist has received a new update which finally adds a dark mode to the application, one of the most requested features for the app. This update was actually rolled out to the web as well, by the way, not only Todoist app. Now, in addition to the dark mode, the company also listed data parsing improvements and fixes in the changelog. Doist, a company behind Todoist, also fixed crash issues in Todoist search, while some smaller improvements when using the app on Chromebooks have also been added. On top of all that, Doist also released a hotfix update (v13.0.1) following v13 that brought Dark Mode and everything we’ve mentioned, and in that hotfix update, Doist amended some crash issues on Samsung devices, as Todoist had issues with crashes while selecting text on some Samsung devices it seems.

Background: Todoist is one of the most popular to-do list and task management applications out there, and we’ve actually included it in our top 10 to-do apps list that was published recently. This application is currently holding a 4.5-star rating in the Google Play Store, while it has been downloaded over 10 million times. The app comes with productivity graphs that give you a nice overview of your daily and weekly accomplishments, while you can color-code your tasks / notes as well. Reminder option is included in the application, as are a number of other features. Todoist comes with a ton of app integrations (over 60), including Dropbox, IFTTT, Slack, Alexa… and so on.

Impact: Dark Mode is one of the most requested features when it comes to apps these days, in general. Google had recently rolled out Dark Mode to YouTube, while Android Messages received such functionality as well. Some popular apps support dark mode for years now, and Todoist now comes with the same functionality. This mode is actually great for OLED devices, as those blacks will actually be black on OLED displays, not to mention that it’s more convenient during the night.
