In addition to announcing the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, the company has also introduced another flagship smartphone during its event in China, the Mi 8 Pro. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro looks almost identical to the Mi 8 Lite, with one notable difference, it does not have a fingerprint scanner on the back. Xiaomi has opted to include an in-display fingerprint scanner in this smartphone, so think of this phone as the Mi 8 with an in-display fingerprint scanner, as that’s more or less what this is. The phone is made out of metal and glass, it sports two vertically-aligned cameras on the back, with an LED flash placed in-between them. Xiaomi’s logo is placed on the back of this phone, while a notch is included on the phone’s display. The device sports a thin ‘chin’ below the display, and all of its physical keys are included on the right.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro features a 6.21-inch fullHD+ (2248 x 1080) AMOLED display, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor. The phone comes with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin on top of it. Two SIM card slots are available here, we’re looking at two nano SIM card slots. 12-megapixel main (Sony’s IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1.4um pixel size, 4-axis OIS, 26mm wide-angle lens) and 12-megapixel secondary (Samsung’s S5K3M3 sensor, f/2.4 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, 2x zoom) cameras are included on the back of the Mi 8 Pro, while a single 20-megapixel camera can be round up front. A 3,000mAh battery is a part of this package as well, and it supports Quick Charge 4+ fast charging. The phone also comes with IR Face Unlock feature, while that in-display fingerprint scanner is pressure sensitive. The device measures 154.9 x 74.8 x 7.6mm, and weighs 177 grams.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro comes in Black, Sunset Gold, and Transparent Titanium (similar to the Mi 8 Explorer Edition) versions. The phone’s 6GB RAM model is priced at 3,199 Yuan ($466) in China, while the 8GB RAM variant costs 3,599 Yuan ($525) in Xiaomi’s homeland. The phone is already available for pre-order, and it will go on sale starting on September 21. Xiaomi did not share any info regarding this device’s international available, at least not yet.
