In Short: Google has just shared a new post on its official Twitter account, saying “no comment” to the Google Pixel 3’s Super Selfie Mode that has been rumored for a while now. In addition to that, the company also said that fans should tune in on October 9 to find out what the company has really been working on. In addition to the tweet itself, the company attached an image of a phone with a huge lens attached to it, and even a phone attached to a hat via some sort of a stick, or something of the sort. Next to the drawing, you will notice some sort of a selfie stick with a module attached to it.
Background: The ‘Super Selfie’ concept has been floating around since August, when a rumor surfaced saying that a case for the dual front-facing cameras on the Pixel 3 will be available. Google obviously decided to have some fun with that rumor, and try to confuse everyone in the process, as per usual. The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL did surface a ton of times thus far (including our exclusive which dropped yesterday), and those leaks revealed pretty much everything there is to know about the design of the two devices, while their partial specs also leaked at one point or the other. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be fairly different in terms of the design. The Google Pixel 3 will sport noticeable bezels above and below the display, but not display notch, and it will be considerably smaller than the Pixel 3 XL. The Google Pixel 3 XL, however, will ship with thinner bezels, and a rather large display notch.
Impact: The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are still considered to be amongst the best camera phones out there, if not the best, so expectations are quite high for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, even though both phones will sport a single camera on the back. The two devices may ship with two front-facing cameras, though. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel both phones, while both devices will ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box. It seems like Google has been working on some new camera tricks, so it will be interesting to see how will the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL fare against the competition, and its predecessors.
