Honor Magic 2 With Thin Bezels, Sliding Mechanism Appears: Video

The Honor Magic 2 will be announced soon, and while you’re waiting for that day to come, we do have some teaser images and a video to share with you. The Honor Magic 2 will be one of those devices that have managed to get rid of the vast majority of bezels, and on top of that, the phone will utilize the sliding tech we’ve seen on the OPPO Find X, but it will be differently implemented in this phone, as you can see in the provided images. These images reveal that the phone’s rear-facing cameras will be always available, you will not need to use the sliding mechanism, but the phone’s front-facing shooters will be hidden away until you activate the front-facing camera in the phone’s camera application.

Having said that, you can also notice that the phone does not sport a display notch, and that it’s almost completely bezel-less, at least the part of the device that we can see in these images is. We don’t really get to see the bottom part of the phone’s front, so it is possible that a tiny ‘chin’ will be included on the bottom, we’ll have to wait for an announcement in order to find out. An earpiece is visible at the top of the phone, while the phone’s display sports rounded corners. Now, as you can see, the Honor Magic 2 will be made out of metal and glass, while it will sport three rear-facing cameras on the back, which will rely on AI, at least that’s what the writing on the back of the device claims. The top sensor on the phone’s back is actually an LED flash, and the other three are cameras sensors. All of those sensors protrude on the back quite a bit, in case you care about that. Two color variants of the Honor Magic 2 are shown in the provided images, Blue and Red, and they both sport gradient colors on the back. A teaser video for the device is also available, and it is embedded down below. That teaser video suggests that the Honor Magic 2 will sport an in-display fingerprint scanner, which was to be expected, as a regular capacitive fingerprint scanner is not located anywhere on the device.

Background: The Honor Magic 2 has been leaking for a while now, as the company is getting ready to announce this handset on October 31. That date had been confirmed by Honor already, and it’s worth noting that it has been almost two years since the first-gen Honor Magic phone arrived. Honor introduced the first Honor Magic device back in December 2016, and has opted not to announce its follow-up in 2017. Pretty much everyone thought that the ‘Magic’ line is gone, but Honor opted not to kill off that series of phones after all. The Honor Magic 2 is quite a mystery at the moment, at least as far as specs are concerned, as not much info leaked. We guess that it will be fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, the most powerful chip Huawei has at the moment, and a chip that fuels the Mate 20 series of phones. The device will include at least 6GB of RAM, though it’s possible that an 8GB (or even 10GB) RAM variant gets announced as well. Android 8.1 Oreo will probably come pre-installed on this phone, along with a new version of Magic Live UI which was included on the first-gen phone, unless Honor opts to release the device with Emotion UI (EMUI) instead, we’ll see.

Impact: The original Honor Magic was not exactly available all around the globe, quite the contrary, so it remains to be seen if the second-gen model will be pushed out to markets outside of Asia. The Honor Magic 2 does look really nice based on the provided images, and it will be appealing to those of you who want to have as little bezel as possible, as long as you don’t mind the sliding mechanism, of course. Honor will introduce this phone soon, and we’ll have all the necessary details then, so stay tuned.
