OnePlus 6T Promo Images, Specifications & Renders Leak

The upcoming OnePlus 6T has just leaked yet again, this time around the phone’s promo images and specifications have surfaced. Most of this information is coming from a website called ‘mr gizmo’, including seven images and a spec sheet, but a bunch of additional renders have surfaced on Twitter as well, and those images can also be found in the gallery. These images basically confirm the design of the OnePlus 6T, a design that had leaked a ton of times thus far. The OnePlus 6T will be made out of metal and glass, it will sport a really thin ‘chin’ below the display, and a ‘waterdrop’ display notch. The general shape of the phone will be quite similar to the OnePlus 6T, down to the curves on the back, while two vertically-aligned cameras will sit on the back as well, same as on the OnePlus 6. Unlike the OnePlus 6, though, a rear-facing fingerprint scanner will not be a part of this package, instead, this phone’s fingerprint scanner will sit under the display. The power / lock key will be included on the right, while an alert slider will be placed above it. The volume up and down buttons will be located on the left, along with a SIM card tray. The phone’s display will sport rounded corners, while the OnePlus 6T’s cameras will protrude on the back.

The device will sport a 6.4-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) Optic AMOLED display, according to this leak, while it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor. Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on the device, while a 3,700mAh battery will be a part of the package as well, and it will not be removable. The variant of the device whose specs leaked will include 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but a variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will also be available. 16-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture) and 20-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture) cameras will sit on the back of the phone, while a single 20-megapixel camera (f/1.7 aperture) will be included on the device’s front side. A 3.5mm headphone jack will not be included here, while the phone will measure 157.5 x 74.9 x 8.2mm, and weigh 180 grams, which means it will be thicker, taller, and heavier than the OnePlus 6. This listing also says that the phone will support 4G LTE connectivity, as expected.

Background: OnePlus had already confirmed a number of details when it comes to this phone, first and foremost, it will be announced on October 29 in New York. The company did confirm that a 3.5mm headphone jack will not be included, as this listing claims, while OnePlus also said that a “brand new UI” will roll out with the device. This probably means that the company will touch up its OxygenOS skin a bit. OnePlus also promised that the phone will be able to take high-quality pictures with its cameras, while a new gesture will arrive to the company’s gesture-based navigation, a gesture which will allow you to quickly switch between the last two apps. A rumor surfaced recently claiming that the phone will ship with a dedicated Night Mode in the camera options, but it remains to be seen if that will happen.

Impact: The OnePlus 6T will not be a huge boost over the OnePlus 6, as the two devices will share quite a bit of their internals, while they will also look similar, even though the OnePlus 6T will look better due to the fact its notch will be smaller, and a fingerprint scanner will not be visible. It remains to be seen how well will the phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner function, though, as it will hardly be as fast as the rear-facing capacitive unit on the OnePlus 6. On top of everything, the OnePlus 6T will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the OnePlus 6, and that may be an issue for some people, so we’ll see how well will the OnePlus 6T sell once it arrives.
