In Short: The OnePlus 6T is right around the corner, and the company has launched a new iteration of ‘The Lab’, which is essentially OnePlus’ contest that allows its fans to get a chance to review the OnePlus 6T. Now, if you’re selected, you will be one of the first to receive the device, and the company is looking or 10 people here. If you head over to this link, you’ll be able to read more about the contest, and you’ll also notice a link to the application form, where you can apply if you’re interested. Once you receive the device, you will be required to go hands-on with it, and share your in-depth review with the community. OnePlus may ask you to provide some additional content once you receive the phone, though, so keep that in mind. You can apply until October 8 at 9PM (Hong Kong Time). Needless to say, you do need to have a vast knowledge of the English language in order to be considered for the position, as you’ll need to review the phone in English.
Background: This is not the first time OnePlus launched its ‘The Lab’ program, we’ve seen something similar for previous OnePlus handsets. In any case, the OnePlus 6T is expected to arrive in mid-October, either October 16 or 17, the company is actually expected to announce the OnePlus 6T’s launch even in the near future. The device is expected to be quite similar to the OnePlus 6 on the inside, but it will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, instead of a rear-facing one, while it will also sport a noticeably smaller notch than the OnePlus 6, as it is expected to include a waterdrop notch at the top of its display. The same SoC and RAM setup will be available as on the OnePlus 6, while the phone is expected to ship with a larger battery than the OnePlus 6’s 3,300mAh unit.
Impact: The OnePlus 6T will not be a huge overhaul of the OnePlus 6, but rather a new version of it, basically. OnePlus will refine the design even further with the OnePlus 6T, while it will offer that one major feature that some consumers want, an in-display fingerprint scanner. If you already own the OnePlus 6, the OnePlus 6T will have a hard time convincing you to upgrade, but some OnePlus 6 users will probably feel the need to do so. If you own any of the company’s previous devices, the OnePlus 6T will probably feel like a proper upgrade.
