Google Play Store has a vast collection of applications for your kids, though finding the best ones is not always easy to do. We have been roaming the Play Store looking for apps to suggest to you, and have compiled a list of 10 that we think will interest you. All apps on this list are suitable for kids, though some of them are aimed at younger kids, while others will appeal more to kids who are a couple of years older. In any case, you’ll get a better idea s to what app does what once you start reading, and that will give you an idea if the app is suitable for your kid or not. Do keep in mind that these apps are not listed in a specific order, so the first one is not necessarily the best one or anything of the sort.
My Talking Tom 2
My Talking Tom 2 is a sequel to the original game that was highly powerful years ago. In this app, you’re basically befriending a virtual friend, a cat called Tom. You can play with him, feed him, buy him clothes, and furniture to play with. Tom can travel all over the world, and Tom even has his own pets. Just like before, Tom can also talk, imitating what you say in his own voice, which is what made the original game so popular all over the world. My Talking Tom 2 also comes with upgraded graphics over the original.
ABC Kids
ABC Kids is basically a game for toddlers, this game will help your kid learn phonics, and trace letters of the alphabet, as it’s never too early to start. This game is aimed at kids at under 5 years, and it comes with really nice, colorful graphics to help your kid focus. This game features a series of games which will help kids recognize letter shapes, associate them with phonic sounds, and also put their alphabet knowledge to use in a number of fun exercises that are available in the app.
YouTube Kids
Most of you probably already know that YouTube has a special app for kids as well, and it’s called simply “YouTube Kids”. This application is free in the Google Play Store, and it has curated content which is aimed at kids only, just so kids don’t stumble upon something they’re not supposed to see, which can easily happen on a regular YouTube app. This app is basically here to keep kids safe while watching videos, and you can create up to eight kid profiles, and set viewing experiences for each of them.
Moose Math by Duck Duck Moose
Moose Math by Duck Duck Moose is an app which will engage kids in a mathematical adventure. This app will encourage your kid to learn to count, add, subtract, sort… while geometry is also included here. Finishing various challenges in this game will earn your kid rewards, and help build their own city in the game, same goes for decorating buildings in that city. This game offers colorful, kid-appropriate graphics, and it is free to download an use, while ads are not included.
ColorMe
ColorMe is essentially a digital coloring book for your kid. In this game, you will find a ton of black and white sketches to color, ranging from animals, to various flowers, and all sorts of other objects. You can even create your own color combinations in this game, as a more advanced mode for adults is also included here, along with a mode for kids. Sketches are sorted in various categories in this game, and the game itself offers a really solid UI which puts all the focus on the drawing itself.
Amazon FreeTime
Amazon FreeTime is a subscription-based app which offers a ton of content for kids, in form of videos, books, and TV shows. This app has a library of over 10,000 books, videos, movies, and TV shows for kids, and the company says that the app is aimed at kids between 3 and 12 years of age. This app also comes with a full set of parental controls, while various well-known brands are represented here, including Disney, Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, PBS Kids, National Geographic, and so on.
Block Craft 3D
Block Craft 3G game is clearly inspired by Minecraft, and once you look at it, you may even think this is Minecraft, but it’s not. The principle is quite similar to Minecraft, though, as this is basically a free city building game. In this game, you can build a house, castle, mine, and even the death star as the game will help you with that. You can choose your own character in this game, while you can also adopt animals and play with them in this game as well. In this game, you can also visit cities which have been built by other players, and so on.
Starfall Learn to Read
Starfall Learn to Read app is here to help your kid learn how to read. Each numbered section in this app features a vowel sound and its related spelling. There are a ton of engaging activities included in this application, and they include movies and songs. This app will also help your kid recognize the relationship between spoken and written language, says the company. The app features really nice-looking graphics, and is aimed at kids who are up to 8 years old, while the app does not include ads.
Toca Hair Salon 2
Toca Hair Salon 2 is a game which basically puts your kid in shoes of a hair stylist. There are a ton of characters included in this game, while new tools and accessories have been added, in comparison with the first iteration of this application. In this game, you can cut and trim hair using various tools, while various other hair-related activities are included, like washing hair, drying it, and so on. There are nine hair colors to choose from in this game, and the game is free to play even though in-app purchases are included in the package.
Words With Friends Classic
Words With Friends Classic is a game for kids that are a bit older, and know very well how to read and write… this game is also perfectly suitable for adults as well. Most of you have probably already played something like this, this is a word-building game, essentially, and it is not only fun to play, but it will help you learn some new words along the way. This game makes you think, and you can play it with people all over the world, and also chat with them if you’d like, of course.
