Mophie has just announced that a new ‘juice pack’ is available, this time around for the Samsung Galaxy Note9. If you think that the Galaxy Note9’s battery is not enough for your daily usage, this ‘juice pack’ aka battery case will bring an additional 2,525mAh battery on the table. Mophie says that this battery case is protected against impacts as it features “internal rubberized support pads”, and those support pads can withstand the toughest drops and falls, says Mophie. Interestingly enough, this battery case comes with wireless charging technology built in, which means you will be able to recharge it wherever you can find a Qi wireless charger. Mophie also emphasizes “Priority+” charging, which the company says allows for “fast-charging speeds and sync capabilities”. This battery pack will not prevent you from accessing any of the buttons or ports on the device, as some cases are known to do, especially when it comes to the charging port, as some of them are not cut out well, but Mophie claims that’s not the case with this battery case, and that’s not hard to believe considering the company’s track record. On top of everything, this battery case also comes with a switch to turn its battery on or off, and that button is called the “standby/status button”. If you turn it on, you will be able to see this charging case’s battery status as well.
Now, this battery case will not only put extra battery power on the table for you to use, but it will also add some grip to the device, well, a lot, actually. The Galaxy Note9 is made out of metal and glass, and it’s quite slippery, well, this rubberized case is considerably more grippy, not to mention that it has a rather interesting pattern on the back which adds more grip on its own. The LED lights, for battery status, are included on the back of this case, as you can see in the provided images. Most of this battery case is considerably thicker than the phone itself, but there’s no getting around it, as the company had to include a battery somewhere, and this way the fingerprint scanner on the back is still easily accessible, as the bottom part is considerably thicker than the upper part of the case. The case itself weighs 118 grams, while it measures 174 x 82 x 19mm, in case you were wondering. The case itself is priced at $99.95 on Mophie’s official website, and if you purchase it, you will get a 2-year warranty for the product. It is also worth noting that this case is available in a black color only, at least for now.
Background: Mophie is well-known for releasing its ‘juice packs’, as the company is offering such cases for a ton of smartphones, though mostly devices from Samsung and Apple, even though such cases for some other phones are also available, mostly quite popular devices. On top of offering battery cases, the company also manufactures and sells battery packs as well, no matter if you need a smaller one, or a really large battery, Mophie has you covered, and its battery packs are usually available in a number of color variants. The arrival of a ‘juice pack’ for the Galaxy Note9 is not surprising at all, though, as the Galaxy Note9 is one of the most popular smartphones on the planet. The device was announced back in August, and since then, it made its way to a lot of markets around the world. The Galaxy Note9 is the most powerful smartphone Samsung had introduced thus far, and it will stay that way until the Galaxy S10 family arrives in Q1 next year, as those devices will bring next-gen flagship processors, and some other improvements, plus a new design, probably.
The Samsung Galaxy Note9 comes in two SoC variants, in the US and China it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while Samsung’s Exynos 9810 processor fuels it in Europe and some other regions. The Galaxy Note9 features a 6.4-inch QHD+ display, while it packs in 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 512GB of storage, depending on the market. The device also comes with an S Pen stylus which is much improved this time around, as it has Bluetooth built in, so you can use it as a remote for the device, basically. The Galaxy Note 9 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo and Samsung’s custom UI on top of it, while it is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The device comes with stereo speakers, and a large 4,000mAh battery which is not removable. That battery can be recharged using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging, while the Galaxy Note9 offers wireless charging as well, both Qi and PMA standards.
Impact: As far as accessories are concerned, Samsung’s and Apple’s devices are by fast the most popular devices out there, there are tons of third-party accessories available for both devices, and some companies even make accessories especially for Samsung’s and Apple’s devices. That is not the case with Mophie, but as already mentioned, the vast majority of the company’s battery cases are made for devices from these two brands. The battery in Mophie’s battery case for the Galaxy Note9 is considerably smaller than an actual battery inside the Galaxy Note9, but it will still give you a considerable boost on a daily basis, just in case you cannot get out a day’s worth of battery out of the Galaxy Note9, which could be the case for some power users out there, and gamers as well. Combined, the Galaxy Note9’s and Mophie’s batteries provide a 6,525mAh unit for the Galaxy Note9, and you’ll hardly find a battery case that is as compact as Mophie’s, and offers the same battery size on the inside, though several other companies are in the same business as Mophie, and this is not the first battery case for Samsung’s flagship, as ZeroLemon presented its offering a while ago, and ZeroLemon’s case comes with a 5,000mAh battery on the inside, though it’s considerably bulkier than Mophie’s offering.
