Nubia Intros Red Magic Mars Gaming Handset With 10GB Of RAM

Nubia has just introduced a new smartphone, the Nubia Red Magic Mars. This is the company’s new gaming smartphone, in case you were wondering, and it comes with a whopping 10GB of RAM, well, its most powerful variant does. Now, before we get into its specifications, let’s talk about its hardware for a second. This smartphone is made out of metal, as you can see, and it sports a single camera on the back, above which you’ll notice an LED flash, and below which lies a fingerprint scanner. An RGB light strip is included on the back of this phone as well, as was on its predecessor, the Red Magic. This smartphone also comes with a vapor cooling system, which is expected to keep the phone from overheating, while the phone does sport bezel on the front, but those bezels are not thick at all, though they’re not as thin as they are on some other flagships out there, and that was to be expected, as you need some place to grip this phone for gaming. The phone also comes with a motor-based rumble system, and the phone’s RGB light strip will change color based on in-game action.

This phone actually comes with “shoulder buttons” as well, those are capacitive buttons, and are supposed to offer some more control while gaming. Needless to say, this phone also includes stereo speakers, as every gaming phone should, while it also has a voice changer. Now, as far as specs are concerned, the Nubia Red Magic Mars features a 6-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) LCD display, 6GB / 8GB / 10GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while it includes a 3,800mAh battery on the inside, and it supports fast charging. A 16-megapixel camera (f/1.8 aperture lens) is included on the back of this smartphone, while an 8-megapixel camera sits on the front side of this phone. The company announced this phone in three color variants, Meteorite Black, Flame Red, and Camo, the latter is exclusive to 10GB RAM variant of the device. Having said that, the 6GB RAM variant of this phone is priced at 2,699 Yuan ($390), the 8GB RAM model costs 3,199 Yuan ($460), while the most expensive model with 10GB of RAM will set you back 3,999 Yuan ($575). The device will become available in China on December 7, and there’s still no word on its global availability.

Background: The Nubia Red Magic, this phone’s predecessor, was announced back in April this year, but it shipped with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is probably why Nubia decided to release an upgrade. The two phones are almost identical in terms of the design, and both are aimed at gamers, no doubt about that. The availability of the Nubia Red Magic is still quite limited, so it’s possible that the same will happen with the Nubia Red Magic Mars, even though some gamers probably hope that the phone will become available outside of Asia at some point in time.

Impact: The Nubia Red Magic Mars has some competition out there, as we did see a couple of Snapdragon 845-powered gaming phones hit the market this year, including mainly the ASUS ROG Phone, and the Razer Phone 2. The Nubia Red Magic Mars does have an upper hand here, mainly due to its price tag, as it’s considerably more affordable than both of these smartphones, but if it doesn’t end up being available in Europe and the US, that price aspect won’t do much good for the device. This smartphone is definitely not for everyone, but if you’d like to stand out in the crowd, and you do plenty of smartphone gaming, the Nubia Red Magic Mars is definitely a phone to consider, especially if you find other gaming phones to be too expensive.
