OnePlus 6T 'Thunder Purple' Variant Spotted; Coming Soon?

OnePlus had introduced the OnePlus 6T in two variants, and the third one may become official in the near future, at least if an online listing is to be believed. The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant briefly appeared on Amazon Germany and was available for pre-order, while it had the same price tag as the 8GB / 128GB Midnight Black variant of the OnePlus 6T, €580. On top of that, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant was also one of the options on the company’s official support page as well, which further indicates that it may become available in the near future. If that ends up happening, the Thunder Purple variant will be the first OnePlus smartphone to have purple color on it, as the company mostly sticks to Gray and Black smartphones, even though they have combined white with gold, and have also released Amber Red variant, not to mention some special edition variants of its devices.

Background: Now, to make things more interesting, we may even know what this smartphone may look like, even though it didn’t technically leak on Amazon or the company’s official support page. A YouTuber called Mrwhosetheboss actually paid a visit to OnePlus in Shenzhen recently, and there he had a chance to film some OnePlus 6 prototypes that never got released. Well, one of those prototypes (which were essentially smartphone back covers), had some purple on it, and combined that with a black color. If you take a look at the image above, you will be able to see the device in question, that back cover is predominantly black, but 30-percent of it is purple, the bottom portion. It is not guaranteed that the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple model will look like this, but it’s possible.

The OnePlus 6T arrived earlier this week in two colors, Midnight Black and Mirror Black, and it’s quite obvious that OnePlus will introduce at least one more color option for the device, as that’s something that they usually do. The OnePlus 6 was introduced in three color variants from the start, Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White, so the Silk White may be replaced by the Thunder Purple in the OnePlus 6T’s case, but we’ll see what will happen. It is worth noting though. The OnePlus 6 and 6T actually have the same processor, RAM setups, and even displays, though the 6T’s display is larger. The OnePlus 6T does not have a headphone jack, like the OnePlus 6, but it does have a noticeably larger battery, 3,700mAh compared to a 3,300mAh one in the OnePlus 6.

Impact: The OnePlus 6T is, arguably, a better-looking smartphone than the OnePlus 6, as it sports a much smaller notch, and its fingerprint scanner is invisible, though the two phones are quite similar in many ways. The two devices actually sport the same design language, and the company even used the same materials to make them, so introducing a new color variant or the 6T, that was not available or the OnePlus 6, may be a good idea, but we’ll see what is OnePlus planning.
