The Samsung Galaxy S10 leaks have been relentless for the last couple of weeks, and a new one has just surfaced, this time around the phone was allegedly spotted somewhere in Korea, in a subway, in fact. The image surfaced on Twitter, and truth be said, it’s not the best image out there, so we cannot be sure that it has anything to do with Samsung, let alone that it’s the Galaxy S10, but it’s possible. This phone has a display camera hole in the top-right corner (or at least it seems like it), and that hole may seem larger than it is due to the low-quality image. The phone sports extremely thin bezels on the top and its sides, but we, unfortunately, don’t see the bottom of the device here. The phone’s display also seems to sport rounded corners, which is something we’re expecting to see on the Galaxy S10 as well.
What We Know So Far
The Galaxy S10 has been leaking for a while now, and at this point, it seems like Samsung will introduce this handset alongside the Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10 Lite in February, but we’ll talk more about that later on. The Galaxy S10, in specific, is actually rumored to sport a 6.1-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display, and despite the fact the phone will sport a considerably larger display than both the Galaxy S8 and S9, rumors are claiming the phone will be approximately the same size as the Galaxy S8, due to thinner bezels. This may indicate that the device will sport a different display aspect ratio, a taller display aspect ratio, so that it ends up being narrower than it usually would. Both the Galaxy S8 and S9 feature an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio, while most of the industry has moved to a 19:9 aspect ratio, and it seems like they’re headed towards a 21:9 display aspect ratio in 2019. Well, Samsung is expected to up its display aspect ratio to 19:9 or 19.5:9 with the Galaxy S10 series, which would make it possible for the company to implement the rumored 6.1-inch panel, and keep the device narrower than it would usually be. The Galaxy S10 is expected to sport a single display camera hole on the front, while its display will be curved on the sides. The phone is expected to be made out of metal and glass, while it will have an extremely thin bezel below the display, and that’s pretty much the only bezel that we’re expecting to see on the phone. Some rumors indicated that the phone will include a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom, but it remains to be seen what will happen in that area. The company’s dedicated Bixby button will be included on the left, while the volume rocker buttons will sit there as well, most probably, while a power / lock switch will be included on the right. The Galaxy S10 is expected to include an in-display fingerprint scanner, while it will ship with at least 6GB of RAM.
Four Galaxy S10 Variants?
Some rumors have been suggesting that Samsung will introduce three variants of the Galaxy S10 next year, while others have pointed at four variants. According to the latter, Samsung will actually introduce the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10 Lite, and a “premium” variant of the Galaxy S10 which will ship with 5G support, a feature that the rest of them will not sport, while some other changes will be included. Now, unlike the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10+ is expected to ship with two front-facing cameras, and the device will have five cameras overall, if the rumors and leaks are to be believed. The Galaxy S10+ will also be larger than the Galaxy S10, of course, but most of their internals will be identical. The Galaxy S10 Lite will also be a flagship-grade phone, according to rumors, despite the fact its name suggests this is a mid-range smartphone. Rumors are actually hinting that the very same processor(s) will fuel this phone like all the other Galaxy S10 variants, but this device will come with “only” two cameras on the back, and 4GB of RAM on the inside, while it may also ship with a flat display. The “premium” Galaxy S10 unit will not only ship with 5G, but it is also rumored to include a ceramic backplate, and 12GB of RAM on the inside. All the other Galaxy S10 units will probably ship with glass backs, and neither of the other units will include 5G support. Every single Galaxy S10 unit that the company announces in 2019 will be fueled by either the Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855, at least if rumors are to be believed, and the availability of those SoCs will be market-dependent, as was the case thus far. That means that the Exynos 9820 will fuel the Galaxy S10 units in Europe and India, while the Snapdragon 855 will ship with the devices in the US and China. These are just some examples, of course. Now, the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10 Lite are actually all expected to arrive in February next year, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, while the “premium” Galaxy S10 unit will arrive a bit later, according to the info that we have thus far, though these are all still rumors. That means that the “premium” Galaxy S10 smartphone may launch in either March or April, Samsung probably won’t launch it after that point.
Are The Leaks Accurate?
We’ve seen quite a few conflicting leaks thus far, though one design prevails, the one suggesting that the Galaxy S10 units will ship with display camera holes in the top-right corner of the display. That seems like the most probable outcome at this point, at least when it comes to the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10 Lite, as the “premium” Galaxy S10 unit is still a mystery, but that phone will probably also sport display camera hole(s) if it arrives at all. This brings the company one step closer to a fully bezel-less design, but those camera holes are certainly presenting an obstacle that smartphone manufacturers will need to solve in the coming years, and it seems like under the display cameras may be the way to go, but we’ll see what will happen.
