The Nokia 9 PureView has got to be one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2019, and the device has just surfaced in a new picture. This time around we get to see a real-life image of the phone, though this phone seems to be created by a third-party source, and it’s not exactly a leak, per se, despite the fact a man holds it in his hand in this image. The phone has been created based on various rumors and leaks, though, and considering that the device leaked on a number of occasions thus far, this image may actually be quite accurate. As you can see, the back part of the phone is pictured in an image, and you get a really good look at its left side, its back, and cameras that are located there. The phone’s back side will be made out of glass, while the phone’s frame will be made out of metal. That back side will be curved on the sides, and the same goes for the top and bottom part of the phone’s back side. Nokia’s logo is easily visible on the back of the device, as are those seven rings, five of which are the phone’s cameras. The bottom four plus the top ring are reserved for cameras, which is easily noticeable in the provided image, while the top-left and top-right rings are there for an LED flash, and some sort of a dual sensor, at least according to rumors. The phone’s power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons are visible in the provided image as well, and they’re located on the right-hand side of the phone. The front side of the device is not pictured here, but if previous leaks are to be believed, the phone will not include a notch or a display camera hole, instead, the company will opt for top and bottom bezels, which will not be as thin as they are on today’s flagships, but they won’t be that thick either.
What’s The Story Thus Far?
The Nokia 9 PureView was expected to arrive quite some time ago, back in September, as the Nokia 8 launched back in September last year. Well, that did not happen, obviously, and a reason for that is a delay initiated by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer (CPO), Juho Sarvikas, at least based on reports. Mr. Sarvikas actually delayed the release of the phone several times, and managed to anger some of the company’s employees by doing so, but he did not feel like the device is ready to be released. In the meantime, HMD Global managed to acquire rights to use the “PureView” branding, which will allegedly be included in the phone’s name in the end, even though the original name of the device was supposed to be the “Nokia 9”. The latest delay of its launch allegedly came because the phone’s cameras are not as good as they’re supposed to be, which could have something to do with the inclusion of the PureView technology, which takes time to implement properly. The Nokia 9 PureView is expected to arrive in early 2019, though it remains to be seen which SoC will fuel the device. The phone was supposed to launch with the Snapdragon 845, but considering that the Snapdragon 855 had been announced already, HMD Global may look to include that one instead, as the company probably does not want to be late to the party again, as it were with the Nokia 8 Sirocco earlier this year, a phone which got released with the Snapdragon 835, despite the fact the Snapdragon 845 was available at the time, and as a result of that, the phone’s sales were not good at all.
What Else To Expect?
The Nokia 9 PureView will probably sport a rather large display, its size is expected to be at least 6 inches, while the company will probably utilize an 18:9 display aspect ratio. The device will include at least 6GB of RAM, though variants with more RAM are also a possibility. A rather large battery is also expected to be a part of the package, a battery of at least 4,000mAh, while the phone will be water and dust resistant as well. Android 9 Pie will ship out of the box on the device, and it’s also worth noting that the Nokia 9 PureView is a part of Google’s Android One project. All in all, the Nokia 9 PureView will be your typical flagship which is expected to sport extremely capable cameras, especially considering HMD Global delayed its launch due to those cameras, as the company seems to be eager to get that part right. HMD Global had released quite a few Android-based Nokia smartphones thus far, though none of them was considered to be best out there, or in the top three, so it remains to be seen if the Nokia 9 PureView will change that, though the company will need to utilize the Snapdragon 855 in order to make that happen, as the Snapdragon 845 will seem outdated early next year, that’s for sure, especially considering this phone is supposed to be the next big thing for the company.
