According to a new report by a Korean publication, Korea Herald, Samsung is planning to introduce the Galaxy S10 series in mid-February in San Francisco. This is a rather interesting turn of events as the Galaxy S10 series was expected to arrive during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, but it wouldn’t be the first time Samsung opted to host a separate event for the announcement of the Galaxy S series smartphones, so this info may end up being true. The Korea Herald claims to have received this info from “sources”, and the info also claims that the Galaxy S10 series will be introduced a week ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, which is set to kick off on February 28. Now, the source also notes that this is the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S series, which is probably why Samsung opted to host a separate event, and not announce the Galaxy S10 during the Mobile World Congress. It is also presumed that Samsung moved up the announcement of the Galaxy S10 series prior to the MWC, as Huawei is rumored to introduce its foldable smartphone at MWC 2019, so that Samsung may steal the spotlight, of course. Speaking of foldable devices, Samsung is also expected to introduce its offering soon, in the first half of the year, as the company already showed off a prototype of the device during its developer’s conference last year, and it showed the device’s final design and a working phone to some partners behind closed doors at CES 2019.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Variants
Samsung is planning to introduce four variants of the Galaxy S10 this year, and all four will be flagship-grade phones. The company is allegedly aiming to introduce the Galaxy S10 Lite (rumored to be called Galaxy S10E), S10, S10+, and a 5G-enabled Galaxy S10. The first three models will be introduced first, and the 5G-enabled variant is rumored to arrive at a later date, though we’ll see what will happen. All four Galaxy S10 devices will sport a similar design, though they will come in different sizes, sport different number of cameras sensors, and the 5G-enabled variant is rumored to sport a ceramic back, compared to a glass back on all other models. Having said that, let’s talk more about each of these models, shall we, as a number of rumors surfaced thus far. The Galaxy S10 Lite / S10E is rumored to sport a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED, flat display, and will be the only Galaxy S10 unit to sport a flat display. A side-facing fingerprint scanner is also rumored for this phone, while the device will include two cameras on the back, and a single camera on the front. The phone will allegedly include 4GB of RAM, though a 6GB RAM variant is also a possibility. It is also worth saying that all Galaxy S10 units will sport display camera holes.
The Galaxy S10 will sport a 6.1-inch Super AMOLED, curved display, the same camera setup as the Galaxy S10 Lite / S10E, while it will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will start at 6GB of RAM, rumors claims. The Galaxy S10+ will include a larger 6.44-inch curved Super AMOLED display, three cameras on the back, and two cameras on the front. An in-display fingerprint scanner will be a part of this phone as well. The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 unit is said to sport a 6.7-inch curved Super AMOLED display, four cameras on the back, and two cameras on the front. The phone is rumored to ship with 12GB of RAM, and will include an in-display fingerprint scanner. All Galaxy S10 smartphones will ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box, and Samsung’s One UI overlay on top of it. Do take all this info with a grain of salt, as everything has been collected from rumors and leaks. Most of this info has been mentioned in multiple leaks, and chances are that most of it is accurate, but still, it’s possible that some of it is not, so take note of that. On top of everything, it is also worth noting that the Galaxy S10 series (every phone in the series) will probably come in two SoC variants, the Exynos 9820 will fuel the Galaxy S10 in Europe and India, while the Snapdragon 855 will do the same in the US and China, amongst other countries.
