Huawei is planning to announce several new P series devices in the first half of this year, quite probably in April, and codenames for those devices have just surfaced. Before we get into it, however, it is also worth noting that the VOG-L29, ELE-L29, and MAR-LX1M device have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Russia, and those three phones are suggested to be the Huawei P30, P30 Pro, and P30 Lite, respectively.
Now, a Russian tech publication, Mobiletelefon.ru, has mentioned codenames of the three devices, as it claims that the Huawei P30, P30 Pro, and P30 Lite are codenamed Elle, Vogue, and Marie Claire, internally, which, if true, are rather fancy codenames Huawei opted for. That is pretty much all the info that was shared regarding those devices, but we’ve already seen some info regarding the P30 series in the last couple of weeks.
Notches before holes
Earlier this month, 91Mobiles and OnLeaks shared the possible design of the Huawei P30. If the leaked video is to be believed, the P30 will be made out of metal and glass, it will sport three cameras on the back, and it will have a really thin set of bezels with a teardrop notch at the top. That notch will be quite tiny, though it’s quite interesting that Huawei opted for a notch over a display hole, at least if the provided info is to be believed.
The device’s triple camera setup on the back protrudes quite a bit, and it’s still unknown whether both the P30 and P30 Pro will sport three cameras on the back, though there’s a good chance that the P30 Pro will include one extra camera on the back. There is also a chance that the P30 will include a teardrop notch, while the P30 Pro may end up sporting a display hole, though that’s only a possibility, not a single leak indicated that, as the company probably do not want to differentiate so much when it comes to the design of the two devices, same goes for the P30 Lite, actually.
Naturally, expect a significant annual upgrade
Huawei’s Mate 20 series of smartphones managed to interest quite a few people, especially the company’s Mate 20 Pro flagship. Well, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will probably ship with the same processor as the Mate 20, 20 Pro, and 20 X, unless Huawei ends up releasing the rumored Kirin 985 sometime in the next month or two. That is actually a possibility, as Huawei will probably want a new processor to market plus 5G connectivity for one of its upcoming flagships.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will probably look better than the Mate 20 Pro, as they will have a smaller notch, and Huawei’s anti-slip coating is expected to be applied on the back of the P30 Pro, hopefully, the P30 will get the same treatment. Both devices will include Leica’s lenses, and we’re expecting to see an improved camera setup on the P30 and P30 Pro, even though the Mate 20 Pro is amongst the best camera smartphones out there, if not the best.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are expected to include at least 6GB of RAM on the inside, while both will ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box with Huawei’s custom UI being applied on top of it. The P30 Pro will be larger of the two phones, and it’s also expected to be a bit more powerful as well, not to mention more expensive.
