Jaybird has announced a new pair of fully wireless earbuds today, the RUN XT. This is basically the next step for the company’s “RUN” lineup which stands for its truly wireless earbuds. The Jaybird RUN XT earphones are totally waterproof, as evidenced by their IPX7 rating, and the company has also announced a couple of color options for its latest product – Storm-Gray and Black-Flash, both of which can be seen in the gallery below.
The Jaybird RUN XT earbuds do basically look like the Jaybird RUN earbuds, and are protected by a double hydrophobic nano-coating, says the company. Now, considering these earbuds are IPX7 certified, they are also sweatproof, which is more or less a must-have feature as these earbuds are primarily aimed at sporty people who spend a lot of time running or at the gym. The Jaybird RUN XT earbuds come with silicone ear tips and fins (several sizes), and you can use these earbuds to control your music, calls, or digital assistants like Siri or Google Assistant, thanks to buttons that are included on earbuds themselves.
The company claims that these earbuds will provide you with four hours of playtime, 12 if you’re counting the carrying case they come in, which also serves as a charging case. Jaybird also says that a five-minute charge will provide you with a full hour of playtime, so charging them on the go should not be a problem at all, as they will charge extremely fast.
Now, Jaybird’s application is available for both iOS and Android, and it allows you to customize music output for these earbuds, same as with the Jaybird RUN earbuds. EQ is available in the app, and you can either tune it by yourself, or choose from hundreds of other settings provided by the Jaybird community. These earphones also come with Spotify integration, and the application also features a “Find My Buds” option, which will help you find your earbuds if they go missing for whatever reason.
In its press release, the company also said that it is planning to debut a new podcast playlist feature in the application in early February, as podcasts have become quite popular, runners and fitness enthusiasts do listen to them quite a bit.
The Jaybird RUN XT can be purchased starting today from Jaybird’s official website, Best Buy, and Amazon, while they will appear in stores in February. The Jaybird RUN XT earbuds are priced at $179.99, which is the price currently listed online, and will be the price you will find in stores come February.
You can take a closer look at these earbuds in the gallery down below, though if you’ve seen the Jaybird RUN earbuds already, then you basically know what to expect here. These earbuds are quite compact, and the same can be said for their charging / carrying case, which is compact enough to carry around with you no matter where you go. These are not the most affordable truly wireless earbuds out there, but that was to be expected considering this is Jaybird’s flagship product, more or less.
