CHUWI Announces $400,000 Ubook "Stretch Goal" At Kickstarter

CHUWI’s Ubook laptop has been listed on Kickstarter for a while now, the company had crossed its $50,000 goal a long time ago thanks to its backers, and has now decided to stretch that goal to $400,000. That may seem like a lot, but at the time of writing this article, CHUWI managed to get $306,559 from 779 backers, and there are still 16 days to go on the campaign, so reaching that $400,000 goal seems quite possible.

This is actually the third “stretch goal” that CHUWI announced, thanks to the popularity of the CHUWI Ubook campaign. The first goal was set at $100,000, and it included a free keyboard. The second goal was crossed at $200,000 and it included a free stylus. Well, if the company crosses the $400,000 crowdfunding goal, it will bundle a USB Type-C port it seems.

The company clarifies that this USB Type-C port will support the fast charging protocol of the USB-IF association. That USB-C port will also support DisplayPort standard, so you will be able to easily connect it to a larger display. On top of everything, that port will also support data transmission, and peripheral expansion, which is something that you’re probably well aware of, as this is more or less standard USB Type-C stuff.

Aside from the Type-C USB port, this laptop is also said to come with two USB 3.0 ports (Type-A), a micro HDMI port, a DC port for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Having said that, there are various perks available on Kickstarter for this device, as you can get various discounts based on the amount of money you opt to pledge.
