DOOGEE had decided to crowd-fund its new smartphone via Kickstarter a while back, and that device is close to being shipped to consumers. The name of the device is “DOOGEE S90”, and it has been available on Kickstarter for a while. This device reached its funding goal a long time ago, the company set a goal of $10,000, and at the moment of writing this article, DOOGEE managed to acquire $352,283 from 930 backers with 5 hours to go.
DOOGEE refers to this device as “the most versatile unbreakable smartphone”, and we’re looking at a rugged device here. The company also says that the phone is modular, as a couple of really interesting accessories are available for it. It comes with four modules and they attach to the device using magnets.
DOOGEE S90 Modules
The Night Vision Camera Module is one of the DOOGEE S90 modules, and it’s meant to be used for those of you who love nighttime photography. This module is “able to illuminate even pitch-black scenes”, says DOOGEE. This module comes with a 12 times light sensitive telephoto lens, an f/1.8 aperture, and a 131-degree wide-angle lens. On top of that, IR correction capabilities are also a part of the package.
The second DOOGEE S90 module is called “5,000mAh Power Module”, and as most of you assumed by its name, this is basically a battery module for the device. This module comes with a 5,000mAh battery, and when you add that to the phone’s existing 5,050mAh battery, you end up with a 10,050mAh battery overall.
The third module turns the phone into a walkie-talkie, and it’s called “Powerful Digital Walkie-Talkie Module”. This module is based on the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) standard, and its frequency ranges from 400 to 480MHz. It comes with a super high sensitivity of 120dBm, and a communication distance of between 6 and 10km. This walkie talkie supports both private and group calls, notes DOOGEE.
The last module that DOOGEE made for the S90 is called “Professional Game Module”, and it’s basically a joystick module which connects to the device via Bluetooth. The company claims that it offers a comfortable grip, and that its buttons are quite tactile and responsive.

The device itself is fueled by the Helio P60 64-bit octa-core processor, and it comes with a 6.18-inch fullHD+ display. The phone does sport a display notch, while you will find two cameras on its back, along with a fingerprint scanner. The device is also IP68/IP69K and MIL-STD-810G certified, while it supports 10W fast wireless charging as well.
The phone includes 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, while 16 and 8-megapixel cameras are included on its back. An 8-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this smartphone, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device.
