In case you were wondering whether you can hide the Galaxy S10’s display camera hole, the answer is yes, SamMobile reports. Samsung’s One UI enables you to activate a black bar at the top of the display, as you would on a number of phones that come with a display notch.
By doing this, it will seem as if you have a thicker top bezel, but the camera display hole will not be visible in most conditions due to deep blacks of Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED panel… that goes for basically any Galaxy S10 variants. If you activate that black bar, the top bezel of the smartphone will essentially seem thicker than the bottom one, quite a bit thicker, actually.
This setting can be found in Settings, you need to navigate to the “Full screen apps” section of the “Display” menu, and find a “Hide front camera” toggle which is located there. Most people probably will not reach to activate this setting, but it’s good to know there is an option for those of you who do.
The Galaxy S10 Quartet
Samsung had introduced four Galaxy S10 smartphones during its February 20 Unpacked event in San Francisco. Samsung introduced the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, and S10 5G. All of these devices have plenty of similarities, but they’re also quite different. All Galaxy S10 handsets ship with Android 9 Pie, and Samsung’s brand new Android overlay called “One UI”. All devices are fueled by either the Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855, it all depends on where you live.
Every variant of the Galaxy S10 is made out of metal and glass, except the top-of-the-line Galaxy S10 model with 12GB of RAM, that variant comes with a ceramic backplate. All Galaxy S10 units except the Galaxy S10e come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a curved display. The Galaxy S10e includes a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a flat display.
The Galaxy S10e is also the only Galaxy S10 smartphone to sport two cameras on the back, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ include three, while the Galaxy S10 5G comes with four rear-facing cameras. The Galaxy S10e includes a 5.8-inch fullHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display, while all other Galaxy S10 units sport QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panels. The Galaxy S10 comes with a 6.1-inch panel, the Galaxy S10+ sports a 6.4-inch display, while the Galaxy S10 5G comes with the larger display of all, a 6.7-inch unit.
The Galaxy S10e comes in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, while the Galaxy S10 is available in an 8GB RAM model only. The Galaxy S10+ comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, while the Galaxy S10+ 5G will be available with 8GB of RAM only.
The Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ units are already available for pre-order in a number of regions, while the Galaxy S10 5G will become available at a later date. Those pre-orders will be active until March 7, after which Samsung will start selling the Galaxy S10 units. The pricing for the Galaxy S10 models starts with the S10e at $750, and goes all the way up over $1,200 for the ceramic Galaxy S10+, we’re talking about unlocked devices here.
