How To Watch The 2019 State Of The Union Address

The 2019 State of the Union address was originally set to take place on January 29. But due to the shutdown, Speaker Pelosi disinvited the President (this is because the President cannot just come to the House Chamber by himself, he must be invited). Saying that the State of the Union would be rescheduled for after the government has reopened. Well, it’s now reopened, and it’ll be taking place on February 5.

As is the case every year, the State of the Union is going to be broadcast just about everywhere. There’s going to be no escaping President Trump’s address, which is usually around an hour long. Though last year, President Trump did speak for about an hour and a half, making it the longest State of the Union in the past 50 years.

So how can you watch the State of the Union address on Tuesday, February 5? Well if you have TV – cable, satellite or streaming – you can watch it on virtually any channel. This includes the free, OTA channels like ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. It will also be available on C-SPAN, Fox News and MSNBC.

Those that do not have TV, maybe have cut the cord, there are tons of other places to watch. Including YouTube, Facebook Watch and Twitter. Google has already confirmed that ABC News, CBS News, C-SPAN, Fox News, NBC News, New York Times, PBS NewsHour, Telemundo, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post will be live-streaming it on YouTube.

While it is up to the news organization, it will likely also be available on Facebook Watch and Twitter, from these same news organizations. Allowing viewers to pick their favorite news outlet and watch their coverage.

YouTube has been live-streaming the State of the Union since 2010 – as well as other big political events like the Inauguration and debates. Facebook Watch and Twitter have also joined in with live-streaming these events, as they are something that everyone needs to be a part of. Whether they have TV or not. With so many people cord-cutting these days, it makes it much simpler to find out what the state of our union really is, each year.

The State of the Union is set to start at 9PM EST on February 5. It will be given in front of a joint session of Congress in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. After the President is done giving the speech, the Democrats will respond to the State of the Union. This year, it’ll be former Florida Gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams. And it is sure to be an exciting response.

President Trump is reportedly going to try and bring the country together with his speech this week, through bipartisanship. Though, Trump doesn’t have much of a choice, seeing as the House is now controlled by the Democrats, forcing Trump to work with the other side. He is also expected to continue to talk about why the US needs to spend nearly $5.7 billion on a wall. And with the current funding bill set to run out next Friday, we could be staring at another government shutdown over this wall.
