Lenovo is planning to show off a new smartphone at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, a device that is called the Lenovo Z6 Pro. The company’s Vice President confirmed the news via his official Weibo (Chinese social media network) account, as he shared a teaser image for the phone which serves as an invite at the same time.
The image Lenovo’s exec shared lets everyone know that Lenovo will be at MWC 2019 from February 25 to February 28, and that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will make an appearance. This image does not really share a lot of information about the device itself, but you will notice a lot of circles in the middle of it, and those circles probably suggest a circular coil for wireless charging. If that assumption is accurate, the Lenovo Z6 Pro will support wireless charging, probably Qi standard.
There is a chance that Lenovo may introduce this smartphone in China, prior to the Mobile World Congress (MWC), though considering that the company’s exec teased its arrival to the MWC 2019 on Weibo, that’s not as likely. The company will probably save all major info for Barcelona, as the show is about to kick off in a couple of days.
This is the first time that we’re hearing about this smartphone, so truth be said, we do not have any info regarding it, but we can assume what we’re in for. The Lenovo Z5 Pro was introduced back in November last year with a camera sliding mechanism, and that phone arrived with a mid-range processor, the Snapdragon 710. Lenovo did announce a high-end variant of that phone in December, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, and that phone came with the Snapdragon 855.
Now, considering that the company’s exec went ahead an mentioned the Lenovo Z6 Pro, and not the Z6 Pro GT, we’ll assume that Lenovo plans to announce a mid-range smartphone, unless of course the company decided to rebrand the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT to Z6 Pro, which is not that likely.
Considering the fact the phone will support wireless charging, we’ll assume that it will come with a glass back, same as the Lenovo Z5 Pro. It remains to be seen if the phone will ship with a sliding camera mechanism like its predecessor, or will it sport a more regular design. If it ends up sporting a sliding camera mechanism, you can expect to see really thin bezels on the phone, while it will also not sport a notch or display holes in that case.
It is actually possible that Lenovo plans to utilize the same processor in this phone, as it did in the Lenovo Z5 Pro, so the phone may ship with the Snapdragon 710 64-bit octa-core SoC, as it is still one of the best mid-range processors Qualcomm has to offer. The phone will probably sport a large display as well, larger than 6 inches, we’ll guess a 6.4-inch panel, or something close to it. That display will offer a fullHD+ resolution, and chances are Lenovo will utilize an OLED panel.
The device will include at least 6GB of RAM on the inside, while its battery will probably be smaller than 4,000mAh. You can expect to see two or three cameras on the back, and if the company opts to do something similar as with the Lenovo Z5 Pro, the Lenovo Z6 Pro will also include an in-display fingerprint scanner.
