The HMD-built Nokia 9 Pureview appears to have leaked yet again in what is reportedly to include an official press render obtained by 91mobiles ahead of the flagship’s expected launch at MWC 2019. The renders show the handset and its five rear-facing cameras clearly and in a dark blue coloration. They also seem to confirm at least some aspects of the handset that have already been speculated in previous leaks.
Starting with the back panel, the Nokia 9 PureView is pictured with a diamond-shaped quad-camera array that’s meant to be the primary snapper array, according to the source. Breaking the array down the sensors are thought to be separated based on usage. That would include a standard high-resolution sensor, ultra-wide-angle lens, another snapper geared toward creating a greater depth of field, and finally a telephoto lens for better zoom capabilities.
Those cameras are reportedly set with two at 16-megapixels, one at 8-megapixels, and another at 5-megapixels but the fifth camera that’s placed next to the LED flash and yet another sensor is currently a mystery. As with other recent Nokia devices, the cameras are expected to be Zeiss Optics and that’s reflected in the branding on the rear panel of the render.
A microphone hole sits just above the cameras but there are no other holes or gadgets to be seen on the back panel, including a fingerprint reader. That scanner has been placed directly in the display panel and Nokia has opted to include a relatively thick chin and top bezel rather than including a punch-hole camera on the front panel too.
Metal and glass appear to be the primary build materials, with glass panels sandwiching a metal frame between.
Specifications speculation and leaks
The newly leaked image matches up nicely with previously leaked renders but specifications for the handset have varied, including some rumors that there may be two different versions of the device launched. The primary difference between alleged variants is at the processor level, with indications that both a Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 855 would be available.
A minimum of 6GB of RAM is expected to back up the processor. The source speculates that 8GB of RAM will complete the package alongside an unspecified capacity for storage but it is possible that both will be on offer, with the lower memory count matched up with the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
A rapid-charging 4,150 mAh capacity battery is expected to be in use along with a USB Type-C port.
For the display panel, Nokia is expected to use a 6-inch-rated AMOLED screen set at a 2K resolution.
Coming sooner rather than later
HMD Global presently has a press conference scheduled for MWC 2019 and has already previewed vague images of at least one device. One of those showed a front camera sensor placed on the left-hand side of the handset instead of the right — as shown in the newest purported leaks — so it’s possible the company has two devices planned for launch or that the leaks are inaccurate.
Whatever the case may be, HMD Global will almost certainly be showing this particular Nokia handset just ahead of the event on February 24.
