New leaked renders from a case manufacturer show that the Galaxy A10 will sport an Infinity-V display. The Galaxy A10 is one of the handsets that Samsung will launch as part of its revamped Galaxy A series, and this device will likely be the cheapest of the company’s mid-range smartphone lineup. The front of the handset will feature a notched display that uses Samsung’s Infinity-V design, one of the three notch designs that the South Korean tech giant launched late last year. It is also the same screen design that Samsung used for its entry-level handsets, the Galaxy M10 and the Galaxy M20. The waterdrop-shaped notch will contain the single front-facing camera of the Galaxy A10, and above the selfie shooter is the earpiece. Located at the right side of the device, on the other hand, are the power key and the volume buttons.
The leaked renders show that rear panel of the device will contain a single rear camera placed at the upper left-hand corner of the handset. Found under the imaging module is the LED flash, and also located at the back of the smartphone are the grills of the loudspeaker. Meanwhile, the bottom of the device will include the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack and the microUSB port for charging and data transfer.
Background: The Galaxy A10 is also expected to be the smallest of the Galaxy A series devices, as it will sport a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of HD+. The Exynos 7884B chipset will power the smartphone, and previous leaks claim that this SoC will include an octa-core 64-bit CPU. The Galaxy A10 will include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash storage according to recent reports, although the handset will not support the expansion of the internal storage using microSD cards. The smartphone will contain a 4,000mAh battery, and it will only support regular 5-watt charging through its microUSB port. The single rear camera of the device will ship with a 13-megapixel sensor with an aperture size of f/1.9, while the front-facing selfie shooter will come with a 5-megapixel imaging module with an aperture of f/2.0. To reduce the cost of producing the handset, the Galaxy A10 will not include a fingerprint sensor, and like other upcoming mid-range devices from Samsung, the handset will feature a Glossy Plastic build. There will be two color options for the smartphone, namely black and gold.
Aside from the Galaxy A10, Samsung Electronics is also developing three more handsets as part of its Galaxy A lineup, namely the Galaxy A30, A40, and A50. Both the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50 will feature a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display, but the Galaxy A30 will sport the Exynos 7904 chipset, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of internal flash storage. In contrast, the Galaxy A50 will reportedly ship with a more powerful Exynos 9610 chipset, and it will feature 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable internal flash storage. Meanwhile, recent benchmark results show that the Galaxy A40 will sport the Exynos 7885 chipset and 4GB of RAM.
Impact: If rumors are correct, Samsung, in its effort to offer the Galaxy A10 at a cheaper price point, removed some of the functionalities that offered convenience to many customers. Given how some of its rival manufacturers may offer more feature-packed devices at a cheaper price point, it is interesting how Samsung’s upcoming smartphone lineup will perform against products from the competition.
