A leaked render obtained recently by tech blog Mobile Crypto Tech suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S10 could be offered in a fifth color option aside from Prism Black, Pearl White, Prism Green, and Blue. A newly-leaked new render showcases the Galaxy S10 in a Cinnabar Red color, while featuring an anime character as the wallpaper. Specifically, this appears to be one of the main characters from the Japanese manga Dororo, named Hyakkimaru. More specifically, the character’s design matches its interpretation in the recent Dororo anime adaptation, which started streaming on Amazon earlier this year.
Considering the inclusion of an anime character as the phone’s wallpaper, and given the recent release of the new anime series Dororo, one can assume that the render at hand might reveal a special edition Samsung Galaxy S10 which could be planned for release in limited numbers and/or in specific regions only, at a later date. So, chances are this will not be one of Samsung’s launch colors for the Galaxy S10 series.
Mobile Crypto Tech claims that the render has been sent to them exclusively by “someone in China” without offering any other details regarding the source’s credibility. Having said that, this could very well be just an unofficial render created by a fan of the new Dororo anime adaptation. A tribute image and nothing more, distributed by someone who would like to see a special edition Samsung Galaxy S10 commemorating the new TV show’s first season premiere.
It’s worth noting that the first anime TV series based on the Japanese manga Dororo aired in 1969 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. This could be a good enough reason for the OEM to consider the launch of a limited edition device in the color Cinnabar Red.
Assuming this is the case, the render depicts the Samsung Galaxy S10, not the Galaxy S10+, because the red model has a single front-facing camera instead of a dual sensor. This also isn’t the Galaxy S10e because that particular model is supposed to carry two rear-facing cameras instead of three. As such this color option might be reserved only for the standard Samsung Galaxy S10 model.
It remains to be seen whether or not this Dororo-themed Cinnabar Red variant exists, but it won’t be long before Samsung officially lifts the veil off its latest flagship phone and confirm or deny the special edition at hand. The new flagships will be introduced at an Unpacked event scheduled to take place on February 20, and the lineup is expected to hit the shelves in mid-March after a pre-order period spanning across a couple of weeks.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 should feature a 6.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440, and be powered by the Exynos 9820 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, depending on the region. It’s expected to become the OEM’s first smartphone to adopt in-display fingerprint sensor technology along with two-way wireless charging capabilities. Price-wise, it should fit right between the Samsung Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10+, but it’s likely that a special edition treatment in limited quantities will require a higher price tag compared to the standard model.
