Mobile case manufacturer totallee now has a new case design up for pre-order for all three upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 handsets, inadvertently outing the flagships ahead of their February 20 Unpacked event announcement. The cases are available in three colors and are identical with the exception of their size, the scale of the camera cutout, and the addition of one extra cutout for the smallest of the smartphones.
Each of the cases is being made available for $29 or $48 if buyers want a screen protector and free shipping worldwide. A two-year warranty is included and all cases will ship within a day of the flagship series’ reveal at Samsung’s event. Options include a glossy clear, matte frosted clear, and a matte frosted black color.
The ultra-thin build of the new totallee cases measures in just a half-millimeter thick with the exception of the clear color at just over three-quarters of a millimeter thin, with the weight held down at 0.1-ounces. The razer-thin cases each allow wireless charging. A slight camera hump is part of that design to ensure adequate space between the sensors and the ground if a user drops their phone.
There’s also no branding present on any of the designs, enabling users to select their favorite color without having to advertise for the company that made the case and keeping the aesthetics clean.
Not quite the same
The differences in size for the new Samsung Galaxy S10, “Galaxy S10 Lite,” and Galaxy S10+ handsets from totallee are relative to the screen size of the smartphone they’re made to protect. The smallest of the devices is presently expected to ship under the Samsung Galaxy S10e branding with the case’s cutouts suitable for its dual rear camera array and sizing to match the 5.8-inch flat display panel.
Cutouts are present along the bottom for a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB charging port, and apparent speaker port too but the biggest change from its sister-devices is in the edge-mounted fingerprint scanner. That sensor has been leaked as a dual-purpose sensor, acting as the power button and placed in a slight notch along the right-hand edge.
The new case has a special cutout for the Samsung Galaxy S10e specifically engineered to provide easy access for security without compromising the protective qualities. Each of the other cases also allows access to the buttons with a cutout but those are only sized to allow the buttons to poke through.
Preparations for a huge launch
It isn’t necessarily surprising that totallee has posted up new cases for the as-yet-unreleased Samsung devices ahead of their launch since Samsung is among the top selling brands and cases tend to flood the news around that time. The new Galaxy-branded flagships are expected to be better than ever too.
In addition to rumors that at least one flagship from the company will support 5G this year, Samsung is also bucking the trend to launch three smartphones instead of the usual two. The smallest, the Samsung Galaxy S10e should come in significantly less expensive due to the lack of a curved “edge” panel, fewer cameras, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It also won’t be a slouch.
All three of Samsung’s flagships will be powered by the latest in-house Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 SoC — varying based on purchase location. That will drive Android 9 Pie overlaid with the latest Samsung UX, the aptly named, brand new One UI. Display cut-outs will house the selfie camera. The company has been leaked as prepping the “budget” model with 6GB RAM and 128 GB storage with a 3100mAh battery. It will feature two cameras at the back and a single snapper up front.
The more standard Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ will have three rear cameras with either one or two selfie shooters, respectively. An in-display fingerprint reader is expected since there isn’t one on the back or sides for both devices. The smaller Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to arrive with a 6.1-inch display and the option to bump internal memory to 8GB RAM and 512 GB for storage. A 3,400mAh battery is predicted to power that package.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is expected to offer a 4,100mAh battery with yet another storage option added at 12GB for RAM and 1TB for everything else.
