New images have now surfaced of what appears to be an official render of Samsung’s LED Cover for its upcoming Galaxy S10e, leaked via Twitter by Roland Quandt. There don’t appear to be any new details about the protective case aside from a vague reference to an “Emotional LED Lighting Effect” on the front of the pictured packaging.
There are a number of possibilities that could be covered under the provided clues and those will likely become apparent soon enough since the Samsung Galaxy S10 family is expected to launch in just a few days. The most obvious of those is that the case, which primarily covers the back side of the phone, will be able to showcase graphics or text about notifications to users.
Use as a means to providing notifications to users regardless of whether their device is facing upright is indicated by the inclusion of a ‘phone’ icon on the packaging, set over the center of the LED Cover. Another image that’s included shows pinpricks of light represented by led’s turning on all over the case, which could hint that the effect will be customizable. To what degree that will be the case remains to be seen.
One of many official cases incoming
The new case design is only being shown for the smallest of Samsung’s Galaxy S10 flagships but it won’t likely be exclusive to that device. Instead, previously leaked documentation and renders suggest the LED Cover will be among many other offerings available for the entire Galaxy S10 family.
Among those is another “LED” case called the LED View Cover. That will likely bear a lot of similarity to the protective case shown in the new image but the name suggests it could include a wallet-style flap and further embedded LEDs on the front portion of the case.
The LED Cover is expected to ship in either black or white, while the LED View Cover will have an additional green version available.
Non-LED enhanced cases are set to become available as well, including a clear case and a clear case, listed in several colors — likely indicating that they will have a clear back panel and color accents. Those might ship with clear back and front panels, conversely, or a clear front panel showing the always on display and colored back panels. A variety of colors will be made available in leather and silicone protective cases as well as patterned cases and yet another line of cases with a kickstand too.
Finally, Samsung is expected to unveil a screen protector for each handset. Those will probably be case-friendly for the official Samsung Galaxy S10 cases.
Other accessories to expect
There have already been a plethora of leaks about the new smartphones themselves, outlining just what fans of the brand should expect on February 20 at Samsung’s Unpacked Event but the company is also expected to launch several other accessories.
Those include a new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch with a dual-core Exynos 9110 SoC, 4GB of onboard memory, NFC support, and a 230mAh battery as well as a new Galaxy Fit E fitness tracker. A revised successor to Samsung’s Gear IconX true wireless earbuds is expected too, rebranded and completely redesigned under the Samsung Galaxy Buds branding. The earbuds will reportedly pack in 8GB of storage for local media playback, a 58mAh battery and a charging case with a 252mAh battery.
