Xiaomi’s latest gaming smartphone is now available in Europe as well, the Black Shark 2. Black Shark is a company backed by Xiaomi, and this is its third gaming smartphone, as the Black Shark and Black Shark Halo are its predecessors.
The Black Shark 2 was announced in mid-March, so it took Xiaomi about half a month to bring it to Europe. The device is now available for purchase directly from the company’s website, and it comes in two variants.
If you’d like to grab a variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage you’ll need to pay €549 / £479. If you’re more interested in a 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, then get ready to pay €649 / £559.
David Li, VP of Black Shark Global, said that this phone will provide “an unmatched experience for European gamers”. It is hard to deny that mobile gaming is on the rise, and we’re seeing more and more gaming smartphones out there, and the Black Shark 2 is one of the best ones, so it will be interesting to see how many people from Europe will decide to get it.
The Black Shark 2 surely has an interesting design which is different compared to the competition. Bezels on this phone are not too thick, but they’re not as thin as you’d think either, which is probably a good thing considering this is a gaming phone. Notches and display holes are not present here, while the phone includes two cameras on the back.
The Black Shark 2 comes with a plethora of features for gamers, including the Ludicrous Mode. If you activate this, the phone will push all CPU power towards gaming, so that you get those stellar framerates. Shark Space is yet another interesting feature, a feature that clears up memory in the background via a single key press.
This smartphone also comes with touch zones, which Black Shark refers to as “Master Touch”, and those are essentially touch zones to trigger multiple on-screen actions with just two thumbs. These are only some of the features that the Black Shark 2 is equipped with, there’s plenty to love on this phone if you’re a gamer.
This device is actually a true powerhouse, it comes with high-end specs, which is expected considering this is a gaming phone. The Black Shark 2 is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor, while it includes 8GB or 12GB of RAM in Europe, as already mentioned.
The phone is equipped with a 6.39-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) AMOLED display, and there’s a good reason why Black Shark opted for a fullHD+ panel instead of a QHD+ one, performance, the phone has to push way less pixels this way. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this phone, while the device offers two SIM card slots.
A 4,000mAh battery is also a part of the Black Shark 2, while the phone supports fast battery charging (27W). The device includes stereo speakers, while you will find 48 and 12-megapixel cameras on the back, while a single 20-megapixel camera is included on the phone’s front side.
