This App Transforms Galaxy S10's Camera Light Ring To A Notification Light

Samsung, unfortunately, did not include an LED notification light on the Galaxy S10 series, but there is a way to bring it back. All Galaxy S10 units ship with a camera light ring, around the camera(s) on the front side of the Galaxy S10 units. That light ring lights up when you do certain camera actions on the phone, but it does not act as a notification light, even though it would make so much sense if it did.

Well, you’ll be glad to hear that Samsung will probably push out that feature to the device in the future, as some reports claimed that the feature is coming, but while we’re waiting for that to happen, you can take matters into your own hands. All you have to do is install the Always On Edge – Edge Lighting app from the Play Store, set it up to your preference, and you will be able to use the Galaxy S10’s camera light ring as a notification light.

That app has been primarily created for lighting up the edges on smartphones, but it now supports the Galaxy S10’s camera light ring, allowing you to set it up to your preference. That camera light ring actually supports all sorts of different colors, so you have plenty of options to play around with.

The first thing you have to do once you install the app is give it some permissions, such as the notification access permission, “appear on top” permission, and so on. Also, if you’re using any type of battery saving on your device, you will need to exclude this app, as the system will kill it in the background sooner or later.

At that point, you can go set up the app to your preference. The best thing about this app is that it offers a ton of options, no matter if you want your screen to light up when the notification comes, or you just want that camera light ring to light up. You can manually setup up colors, while such options are available for each app that is installed on your phone, so you can set them up separately. This is actually extremely useful as based on the LED notification color you can know what type of notification you received and for what app.

This application is free to use, though ads are present in it. You can always make an in-app purchase and take care of that, though. Do note that ads are not exactly annoying here, and the fact is, you won’t even open this app frequently after you set it up.

You can do this on all Galaxy S10 models, including both those with a single front-facing camera (Galaxy S10e and S10) and those with two front-facing cameras (Galaxy S10+ and soon the Galaxy S10 5G). All of those phones have the same camera light ring installed, even though it’s different in size.

The Always On Edge – Edge Lighting app is currently holding a 4.7-star rating in the Play Store, and it has been downloaded well over 100,000 times. The app has been quite popular even before this update for the Galaxy S10, but has received a ton of additional downloads following its inclusion. This is a great way of activating a notification LED light on the Galaxy S10 series as we’re all waiting for Samsung to make such an option officially available on the device.
