The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro have finally arrived today, and even though they’re quite similar in a number of ways, their features are not identical. One area in which this is quite noticeable is the battery department, so we’re here to take a closer look at what these two phones have to offer in terms of battery.
It’s safe to say that the P30 and P30 Pro are considerably different when it comes to the battery department. First and foremost, they ship with different battery capacities, which is not exactly surprising as their display sizes are different. The Huawei P30 includes a 3,650mAh non-removable battery, while the P30 Pro ship with a 4,200mAh non-removable unit.
Those are not the only differences, though, as both phones do support fast charging, but they’re not identical in that regard as well. The Huawei P30 ships with 22.5W wired charging support, while the P30 Pro supports 40W fast wired charging. Both of these solutions are quite fast, but the P30 Pro’s is faster, that’s for sure. Fast charging on both phones is referred to as “SuperCharge”, as Huawei’s very own technology is included here.
As far as wireless charging is concerned, only the P30 Pro supports wireless charging, 15W fast wireless charging to be exact, Qi standard. The P30 Pro’s wireless charging is compatible with pretty much every Qi charger out there, but do keep in mind that not every Qi charger can provide 15W fast wireless charging, so you’ll need an appropriate charger in order to take advantage of this feature on the P30 Pro.
The Huawei P30 Pro also offers reverse wireless charging, just like the Mate 20 Pro, while the P30 does not ship with that feature. Reverse charging on the P30 Pro is still quite slow, as it is on the Mate 20 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series, but it’s there. Reverse wireless charging can be quite useful if you’re planning on charging some accessories which support Qi charging, but it’s too slow for charging other phones.
Huawei P30 & P30 Pro are both quite powerful
Both of these phones are fueled by the Kirin 980, which is Huawei’s very own 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor. This is the company’s most powerful mobile chip at the moment, and in addition to that, these two phones ship with 6GB and 8GB of RAM, respectively. The P30 comes with 128GB of storage, while the P30 Pro is available in three different storage variants.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on both devices, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 9.2 Android overlay. Both phones include a 32-megapixel camera on the front, while they have quite compelling rear-facing setups, but they’re different. The P30 includes 40, 16, and 8-megapixel cameras on the back, while the P30 Pro comes with 40, 20, and 8-megapixel cameras, and the latter device supports 10x hybrid (optical) zoom, not to mention that it has some additional sensors on the back.
Both of these phones ship with Leica’s camera lenses, and they’re both made out of metal and glass. The P30 and P30 Pro are quite similar in terms of the design, but they’re slightly different on the back due to camera setups, while the P30 Pro is also larger. The Huawei P30 includes a flat display, while the P30 Pro ships with a curved panel, that’s yet another noticeable difference in terms of the design.
