Samsung is all over the news for all the wrong reasons at the moment, but let’s step away from that for a second, as a well-known tipster has published some images of the upcoming leather case for Samsung’s first foldable smartphone.
As you can see in the provided images, the company’s leather case for the Galaxy Fold will become available in two colors, Black and White. The source also claims that the case will be priced at around €100, which is really pricey. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy S10’s leather case costs “only” €50, so you can get two of those for a single Galaxy Fold case. This information is not all that surprising, however, as the device itself is priced at $1,980, and this case does require twice as much material as the Galaxy S10’s leather case.
This case is clearly made up of two parts, one for each side of the device. Now, as you can see, this case covers every part of the phone, except the ports, and the displays. When the phone is unfolded, the case covers the whole back side, and is placed all around the secondary display, so that it doesn’t get scratched up if you put the phone on a surface when the phone is unfolded. The hinge is also completely covered when the device is unfolded.
All in all, this case sure seems to be premium, and the materials used seem to be identical to the one Samsung used for the Galaxy S10’s case, though we won’t be able to say for sure until Samsung launches this case and we get our hands on it.
The Galaxy Fold was announced back in February during the Galaxy S10 event, and it is Samsung’s very first foldable handset. The device is quite pricey, as already mentioned, and it is not yet available for purchase, but quite a few reviewers managed to get their hands on a unit. Unfortunately for Samsung, display-related issues started popping really soon after reviewers got their hands on the Galaxy Fold, within two days.
The Galaxy Fold displays, on these early units, seem to be dying, or taking damage of a different kind. Truth be said, damage on some models is not Samsung’s fault, as reviewers peeled off the protective layer that is installed on top of the phone’s display, as they thought it’s a screen protector, and it’s not. Samsung already addressed the Galaxy Fold issues, promising a detailed investigation in order to find out what happened to the models that got damaged.
The Galaxy Fold is made out of metal and glass, just like the Galaxy S10 series, but it’s considerably different in terms of the design, of course. The phone comes with a large 7.3-inch flexible Dynamic AMOLED display, and a secondary 4.6-inch Super AMOLED panel. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor, and includes 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Fold, along with Samsung’s custom UI, while a single 16-megapixel and two 12-megapixel cameras are placed on the back of this device.
